Wolfe County News - July 1956 WOLFE NATIVE DIED THURSDAY AT AGE OF 89 George Lee Congleton, 89, retired lumber company owner-president, died Thursday, July 5th after a six months illness. He was a native of Wolfe county, widely known and related here. Congleton retired in 1940 and sold his interst in the business he founded in 1905 and later operated in partnership with his brother, the late J.W. Congleton. The brothers also operated a coal company for a time. Surivivors are his wife; three sons, Dewey, Herman, and Ralph Congleton, Lexington; three daughters, Miss Ethel Congleton, Lexington, Mrs. Harry Dulaney, Atlanta, and Dr. Virginia Lee Congleton, Cincinnati; a brother, J.N. Congleton, Winchester, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Phillips, Greencastle, Ind. Funeral was conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Cable from Campton attended the funeral. Carole
