WOLFE COUNTY NEWS - June 21, 1961 LUMP COX RITES HELD IN CAMPTON Christopher Columbus Cox, better known as "Lump" died at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Friday, June 16 at 3:35 p.m. following an illness of months. He was 74 years of age and a retired employee of Ashland Oil Co. He was the son of the late Fielden Cox and Mrs. Catron Cox. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Williams Cox, Campton; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Cooper, Lexington and two sons, Lawrence and Christopher Columbus, Jr., both of Campton; two sisters, Mrs. Juda Center and Mrs. Rilda Day, both of Dayton, and one brother, George Cox of Campton. Funeral services were conducted at the Campton Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, with the Rev. Willard Brewer of Zoe officiating. Burial was in Evans Cemetery with Shackelford and Cox Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Carole Obit typed as written
