Wolfe County News, July 1956 WOLFE COUNTY NATIVE PASSES IN OKLAHOMA Funeral service for James Jackson Gosney, 74 of Kiefer, Oklahoma were held Monday, July 23 at the Keifer Christian Chruch, of which he was a member. Mr. Gosney, son of the late Charles H. and Malissa Tutt Gosney, was born at Spradling, Kentucky, February 4, 1882 and grew to young manhood in Wolfe county. He was married to Miss Nettie R. Cope at McCormick, Kentucky, May 29, 1907. They moved to Oklahoma two years later. Mr. Gosney was a charter member of the Kiefer Masonic Lodge No. 48, and a past master of the lodge. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the McAlester Consistory. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. Survivors, in addition to his wife, six children, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, are three brothers, Woodford Gosney, Newport, KY; Charles S. Gosney, Drumright, Oklahoma; and Sullivan Gosney, Bakersfield, California; and three sisters, Maymee Lallathin, Rainer, Washington; and Mrs. Sarah Wright, Oneida, Tenn. He was preceded in death by three children, two of whom died in infancy and a son who lost his life in World War II, two brothers, and two sisters. Interment was in the family lot in South Heights Cemetery in Sapulpa. Mr. Gosney had visited in Wolfe County last summer. Carole
