Hello Troy, My name is Betty Gail (Rose) Berish. I am the secretary/treasurer of the John & Rebekah Rose Family Association. Your Ira Fleetus Rose was a descendant of John & Rebekah (Bowen) Rose via their son David Bowen Rose & Sally/Sarah Nickell. John Rose was born in 1761 probably in Franklin Co., PA & died 1843 in Stillwater, Wolfe Co., KY. Rebekah Bowen Rose was born in 1763 in Franklin Co., PA and died in 1835 in Stillwater, Wolfe Co., KY. Several of your Rose cousins have participated in the Rose DNA study sponsored by Christine Rose of the Rose Family Association. We have been excluded as descendants of the Rose family of Scotland through DNA tests. DNA has determined we are from the Roses of Long Island, Suffolk County, NY, but we are not sure exactly from where 'across the pond' they came.
