Wolfe County News - March 5, 1971 STEVE SWANGO WIDELY KNOWN IN AREA, DIES William Steve Swango, 82 of Route 1 Campton, died Thursday, Feb. 18 at the Veterans Hospital, Lexington, after an extended illness. He was a native of Wolfe County, a retired farmer and State Highway employee, and had served on the Wolfe County Draft Board for over 17 years. He was also a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his wife, Lillie Rose Chambers Swango; two daughters, Mrs. Lou Catherine Ortman, Dayton, Ohio, and Millie Charlton, Nicholasville, KY.: one sister, Mrs. Lula Peck, Stanford, Ky., and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Campton First Church of God with Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating. Burial was in the Swango Cemetery on Baptist with full military rites.
