Wolfe County News - Oct. 1971 J.P. SPENCER DIES AT ROGERS James Porter Spencer, age 52, of Rogers, died 12:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7 after suffering a heart attack. He was a native of Powell County, and a veteran of 18 years service in the Army. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Spencer, of Rogers, one brother, Frank J. Spencer, Jr. of Rogers, one sister, Mrs. Pauline Kennedy of Atlanta, Ga. Funeral services were held Saturday, October 9 at the Porter and Son Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Omer Spencer, Rev. Grover Craft, and the Rev. Charlie Spencer. Burial was in the Spencer Cemetery at Rogers. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Porter and son Funeral Home.
