Wolfe County News - Aug. 13, 1971 WOLFE NATIVE DIES IN CALIF. Letcher Byrd, 90, died Wednesday at a nursing home in California after a long illness. He was a native of Wolfe County, a former Methodist minister, and resident of Campton. He had lived in California for the past 15 years. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Ray Goad, Lexington, and three sons, Floyd Byrd, Orville, Calif., Ernest Byrd, Oakland, Calif., and Campbell Byrd, Monroville, Calif. The body will arrive at Shackelford Funeral Home Saturday night. Friends may call at the Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. W.L. Arnold at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16. Burial will be in the Evans Cemetery, with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Carole
