    3. Wolfe County News - Oct. 2, 1970 POMEROYTON G.I. KILLED IN ACTION IN SOUTH VIETNAM Sgt. Billy Harrison Ratliff, 20 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Ratliff of Pomeroyton, was killed in action in Vietnam, U.S. Army officials informed the family early this week of their son's death. Young Ratliff entered the Army on June 10, 1969, and received his basic training at Fort Knox. He had been stationed in Vietnam since last January. He attended the University of Kentucky at Lexington prior to entering the military service. A 1966 graduate of Menifee County High School, he was active in sports, having played basketball for four years. At his high school he received several awards in agriculture and speech, having been the president of Future Farmers of America during his fourth year and was recognized for scholastic achievement while being in the Beta Club for four years. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Richard who is in the U.S. Army , stationed in Korea; two sisters, Mrs. Joan Combs of Menifee County; Judy at home; his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Berry of Pomeroyton. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending the arrival of the body from Vietnam. Carole Note: Wonder if Elizabeth Berry should have been Elizabeth Perry??
