STANTON - Charles Clay Johnson, 95, 1055 East College Ave, Stanton, widower of Mabel Bryant Johnson, was called home to be with the Lord, Feb 21, 2007. He was born Feb 27, 1911 in Stanton to the late Matthew and Mary Reed Johnson. He was a retired Tennessee Gas employee, a local merchant, and a World War II Veteran. He was a Pappaw to all who knew him. Survivors include: son, Charles, and wife, Emma Johnson, Lexington; brothers, Preston and Bill Johnson, both of Winchester; grandchildren, Karen Sue, and husband, Phillip Shearer, Clay City and Charlie, and wife, Stephanie, Johnson III, Winchester; great-grandchildren, Ben, Tandy, and Andrea Shearer. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and several brothers and sisters. Services Mon, Feb 26, 2007 1pm, Wells Funeral Home, Stanton by Rev. Garland Lacy and Rev. Jim Gray. Visitation Sun 5-9pm. Burial in Stanton Cemetery.
