Brewer, was killed in action on Toliew Island on Oct. 18. Ted, as he is known here leaves a wife and two small children. He has many friends and relatives bowed in grief. He is a son of Mrs. Minnie Brewer, of Ohio, and the late Kelly Brewer, of Pine Ridge, ahs several brothers and sisters, Rev. Willard Brewer, Jack and Dillard Brewer are brothers. Ted was one of the most devoted husband and father I have ever known. Mrs. Brewer was called home by her father, I.H. Baker, and was not told her husband was dead until she arrived in Slade. Her husband bought her a home in Lebanon, Ohio, before he went away. She now resides in Lebanon. She has the sympathy of many and all who know her. God alone is the only one that can help us in such trying times. Here is a letter received by Stella Brewer in 1944 As Commandaing Office of Company F, 321st Infantry, I wish to extend my deepest and sincerest sympathy in the loss of your husband, Pvt. Green K. Brewer, ASN 35872894. Pvt Brewer died on October 18, 1944 from wounds received in action against the enemy on Peleliu Island, Palau Group. In the fighting on Peleliu, Pvt. Brewer in the course of his duty which was rifleman, was hit by fragments of a Jap mortor shell, and was killed instantly. He was buried on the island of Peleliu, and services were attended by an Army Chaplain. To all who knoew him and now miss him, his wonderful character, clean way of life, and high sence of duty was an inspiration to us all. Sincerely, Robert M. Darling, Captain. Clay City Times, February 1, 1945 Mrs. Stella Baker Brewer, wife of Green K., or as we knew him, Ted Brewer, has received a posthumous award from the War Dept., the Purple Heart awarded her husband, the late Green K.
