I had found this, and if it's of any use to anyone, here it is. Notice that his birth date that he gave on his draft registration is different from the one on his headstone. Military Records World War I Registration Cards, 1917-1918 (Draft Card B) Role # 1674999 Vilas County, Wisconsin On Sept. 12, 1918 Dennis Brewer Filled out his WWI Draft Registration Card in Vilas County, Wisconsin, and on it he stated that he was born October 2, 1880. He stated that he was 37 years old. He stated that his next of kin was Mrs. Ruth Ellen Brewer. I couldn't make out what his present occupation was but the name of his employer was Conway. His residence was also listed as (this was hard to read, but it's close I believe) Winegar, Vilas County, Wisconsin. Checkmarks on the backside of the draft registration provided this information; his height was listed as short, his build as medium, his eyes as gray, and his hair as black. Under the signature of the registrar, which I couldn't be sure of what the name was, was a stamp that had Vilas as the County and Eagle River, Wisconsin listed as the draft registration place.
I do not know who Silas K. parents were but in the 1810 census of Patrick Co.VA. I have a Peter Ratliff with one white tithable, A Silas Ratliff Sr. 0 white tithables, and a Silas Ratliff Jr. with 3 white tithables. My guess is Silas K. is one of the 3 white tithables of Silas Jr.When he enlisted in the army in 1814 he was a resident of Patrick Co. I do not have a daughter named Lydia for Silas K. Silas K. was in Tazewell Co. VA. 1848, Clay Co. KY. IN 1850. Morgan Co. I've been trying to figure out Ruth Ellen's parents for quite awhile. I knew that she was a cousin to my great grandmother Margaret Ellen Spencer Brewer, and in the George Washington Brewer photo that's on the Wolfe County site, there is a distinct resemblence between Ruth Ellen and Margaret Ellen. Margaret Ellen Spencer is the daughter of Granville Henderson Spencer and Debra Jane Sparks, (Granville and Millie Ann Spencer were brother and sister). She was born 22 DEC 1881. Margaret Ellen married Henry Clay Brewer, 09 NOV 1895 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. Henry Clay Brewer and Dennis Brewer, Ruth Ellen's husband, were brothers. They were the sons of George Washington Brewer and Caroline King, and lived on Lower Devils Creek, near Spruce Gap in Rogers, Wolfe County, Kentucky. Thanks again for the great information.
