Wolfe County News - April 19, 1950 NATIVE OF WOLFE DIES IN OHIO Jim Madden, 76, former Wolfe Countian died in Middletown, Ohio, April 14, 1950 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Lee Taulbee. He had been ill for some time. His body was brought back to Wolfe County for burial. Funeral services were conducted at the Rosedale Church near Landsaw on Sunday, April 16. Burial followed in the family cemetery at Malaga. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lee Taulbee, Mrs. Edgar Chaney, Mrs. Charles Nickell, Mrs. Orvis Chatman all of Middletown, Ohio, and Mrs. Emma Terrill of Malaga, KY and three sons, George Lee Madden, Hazel Green, James Porter and Elmer both in Ohio near Middletown, Ohio, one sister, Mrs. Anna Taylor of Malaga. Wolfe County News - Feb. 12, 1958 FUNERAL RITES CONDUCTED FOR MR. TAULBEE Patrick Taulbee, 68 died in Middletown, Ohio, Friday night, January 31. He was a veteran of World War I. Survivors include three sons, Ernest and Dorotha Taulbee; both of Middletown, and Ray of Mary; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Bailey and Mrs. Geneva Barnett and Mrs. Mary Barnett, all of Middletown, two brothers; John Henry Taulbee, Michigan; and Roscoe, of Rock Lick; five sisters, Mrs. Martha Gabbard, Mrs. Lucetta Hatton and Mrs. Barbara Banks, all of Middletown; and Mrs. Margaret Deaton and Mrs. Altha Back of Rock Lick; also 17 grandchildren. Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 on Big Blood (Bloody) Creek at the Taulbee Cemetery where the body was interred. Rev. Mort Hollon officiated. Arrangements were in charge of B. F. Wolfe County News - Feb. 12, 1958 JOE HONSHUL DIED FEB. 3 AT LOUISVILLE Joe Estill Honshul, age 62 died Monday, Feb. 3 in the Veterans Hospital in Louisville. He was a veteran of World War I and had been a member of the Holiness Church since his youth. He had made his home with his brother, Calvin at Rogers, since the death of his wife, about 15 years ago. He is survived by two brothers, Calvin, with whom he made his home, and Reece, both of whom live on Beattyville, Rt. 2 near Rogers, also two sisters, Mrs. Martha Blair, Dennison, and Mrs. Brunette Idalaugh of Florida. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6 at the Zoe Church of God, Zoe with Rev. Willard Brewer officiating. Burial was in the Honshul Cemetery on Big Andy Road. Wolfe County News - Feb. 19, 1958 LENGTHY ILLNESS CLAIMS LIFE OF MRS. LYKINS Mrs. Mary B. Lykins, 84, died Feb. 12 at her home in Stanton, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of the Stanton Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Sam R. Lykins, Stanton; and four sons: Kiser Lykins, Daysboro; Claude Lykins, Danville; Denny C. Lykins, Clay City, and Bruce Lykins, Stanton, eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Services were conducted at one p.m. Friday, Feb. 14th at the Stanton Baptist Church with Rev. Chester A. Wolfe County News - Feb. 19, 1958 HILLARD BARKER DIED FEB. 13 AT LOUISVILLE Hillard M. Barker, 67 died Feb. 13 in the Veterans Hospital in Louisville. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Church of God near Campton. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Fannie Barker, Campton; a son, Ernie C. Barker in the U.S. Army at Camp Bunker Hill, Ind. and six daughters; Mrs. Edna Mae Day and Mrs. Stella Combs of Cincinnati, Ohio; Mrs. Carrie Johnson and Mrs. Lillie Johnson, both of South Lyon, Mich., Mrs. Vernie Ruth Johnson, War Creek, Ky and Mrs. Jean Shelton, Middletown, Ind. and two brothers, Isaac Barker, Campton, and Tom Barker of Mich, and 23 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at one p.m. at the "little" Church of God, Campton, with Rev. Osborn and Rev. Granville Rose officiating. Burial was in the Evans Cemetery with B.F. Wolfe County News - Feb. 19, 1958 MRS. CRABTREE DIED SATURDAY AT AGE OF 69 Mrs. Ola Longworth Crabtree, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Fulks of Campton. She was a member of the Presbyterian church at Beattyville. She is survived by her husband, Chester Crabtree, Campton; two sons; Hubert Crabtree, Lexington; and Roy Crabtree, Middletown, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Freed, Cincinnati; Mrs. Rushie Crouch, and Mrs. Miles Watson both of Dayton, Ohio; and Mrs. Myrtle Fulks of Campton; eight brothers; two sisters; sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services were conducted at one p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at Mt. Paran Chruch, Lee County with Rev. Brown officiating. Burial was in the cemetery near the church. Carole

Tyra 65, Wolfe County farmer died at 7 o'clock in the Clark County Hospital, Winchester ater a short illness. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mrs. Katherine Tyra, six daughters, Mrs. Anna Miller, Detroit, Mich; Mrs. Ada Hollon, Pine Ridge and Maybell, Della, Naomi and Thelma Tyra, all at home. Five sons, Arthur Tyra, Cross Plains, Ind, Herbert Tyra, Baptist, Kentucky, Ova Tyra, Lexington, Edgar Tyra, Hollonville, and Roy Tyra at home. Also two sisters, Mrs. Martha Brewer, Hollonville, KY and Mrs. Bell Kidd of Michigan, a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Rev. John Dalton and Rev. Henry Hall conducted the funeral service and burial was in the Tyra cemetery at Hollonville, Tuesday with Hearne Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. and Mrs. Tyra had 15 children, 13 of which lived to be grown. Arnold ws killed in WW II, Osa died a few months after being released from Service in WW II. Carole
Wolfe County News - Jan. 5, 1955 TRUCK KILLS COUNTIAN AFTER SON'S FUNERAL A 65 year old retired Wolfe County farmer was killed instantly when hit by a truck in front of his home on Trace Fork, Wolfe County, Dec. 30, just after his return from his son's (Ray Dickey's) funeral. J. Weed Dickey, a former employee of the Veteran's Hospital, Lexington, was struck by a truck as he walked around his car preparing to go to Lexington, where his wife is a patient in the Julius Marks Sanitarium, and was killed instantly. The accident occurred in front of his home on Highway 15. His son, Ray Dickey, lost his life in a car wreck on highway 15 at the eastern edge of Campton on December 27. The driver of the truck which struck the elder Dickey down was identified by Wolfe County Judge C.W. Murphy as James Haven, about 25, of Morgan county. Judge Murphy said that Haven was arrested and placed in jail on manslaughter charges awaiting a hearing which will probably be today (Monday) Funeral services were conducted by Rev. John Dalton at the Rosedale Church, Sunday morning at ten thirty for the elder Mr. Dickey. Burial was in the Brewer Cemetery on Holly. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Owen Atkinson, Lexington; two brothers, Robert Dickey, Campton; and George Dickey, Bethany, and a sister, Mrs. Belle Banks, Campton. Funeral services were conducted at the Brewer Cemetery in Wolfe County, Thursday, Dec. 30 at ten thiry a.m. for Ray Dickey, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Weed Dickey of Wolfe County, who lost his life in a car wreck on December 27. He was survived, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Weed Dickey, by his wife, Mrs. Rosie Dickey, a four year old son, Ray Dickey, Jr. and a two year old daughter, Carolyn Sue. Wolfe County News - Oct. 12, 1955 TERRILL RITES HELD SATURDAY AT MIDDLETOWN George Lee Terrill about 62 formerly of Wolfe County, died in Middletown, Ohio on Wednesday, Oct. 5. He is widely related in Wolfe County. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Maude Tyler, several years ago. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Clayton Center of Dayton, Ohio and two brothers, John Terrill of Middletown, Ohio and James H. Terrill of Campton. Also numerous other relatives and a host of friends in Wolfe County. Funeral and burial were in Middletown, Ohio on Saturday, Oct. 8. Wolfe County News - Oct. 12, 1955 LENGTHY ILLNESS CLAIMS LIFE OF ALLEN LINDON Allen Lindon, 83, died at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 7 at his home in Ohio following a long illness. Mr. Lindon is a retired farmer going to Middletown, Ohio from Charleston, Ill, about 25 years ago. He was formerly of Wolfe County being reared on Lacy Creek in Wolfe County. Surviving are his wife; Mae, three sons, William, Seldon and Allen all of Middletown; two daughters Mrs. Robert Mattingly and Mrs. Elsie Williams also of Middletown, 23 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; two brothers, Sam of Hazard and Robert of Mt. Sterling and a sister, Mrs. Betsy Lykins, Hazard, Kentucky. Attending the funeral in Middletown, Ohio, Saturday from here was Sterling Lindon, his nephew, also his brother, a Sam from Hazard and his brother Robert of Mt. Sterling. All was known in Wolfe. Burial was in Humboldt, Ill at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Carole
Wolfe County News - Sept. 28, 1955 CECIL TOT DIES AFTER STRICKEN BY PNEUMONIA Jefferson Thornton Cecil, two-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edward Cecil of Morgan County died on Tuesday of last week, September 20 in the hospital at Frenchburg, Ky. The remains were brought to the Hearne Funeral Home in Stanton, and after preparation for burial were returned to the home of the parents. Funeral services were held last Thursday morning in the Hazel Green Academy Chapel, conducted by Rev. Ryan Nevius of West Liberty, Ky. Burial was in the Hazel Green Cemetery, in charge of Hearne Funeral Home. Surivors include the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Norris of Ashland, Ky., and Mrs. Flave Cecil of Hazel Green. Carole
Wolfe County News - Sept. 28, 1955 HEART ATTACK PROVES FATAL TO LLOYD LYKINS Lloyd Lykins, 49, died of a heart attack on August 28, 1955 near Salyersville. He was the son of the late Henry and Gay Asbury Lykins of Campton. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church where he died while attending the morning service. He is survived by his wife, Anna Whitaker Lykins and one son, Lowell Lykins of Salyersville, Three sisters, Corda Hollon of Clay City; Clara Beatty, Bethel and Alda Howard, Salyersville. Four brothers; Ollie Lykins, Salyersville; Dorsie Lykins, Bethel, Ohio, Darlie Lykins, North Kenova, Ohio; and Harvey Lykins, North Kenova, Ohio. Several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Burial was in the Bradley Cemetery near Salyersville. Pallbearers were nephews, Wilson Hollon, Carl Beatty, Arthur Lykins, Abner Lykins, Woodford Lykins and John Howard. Carole

Survivors also include two other sons, Lewis Adkins, Mariba and Josh Adkins, Hazel Green and two daughters, Mrs. George Roberson, Mariba and Mrs. Tim Crottey, Raymondton, Ohio. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Scranton Church of God by the Rev. John T. Williams. Burial was at Hazel Green. NICKELL, COUNTY NATIVE Word was received here this week of the death of William Neal Nickell, who died in Omaha, Nebraska June 9th at the age of 69. He was a former student of Hazel Green Academy in 1905-1906. He resided in Council Bluffs, Iowa for many years. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 12th at the W.P. Swanson Chapel, Omaha, Nebraska and Interment was in Forest Lawn cemetery. His wife, the former Grace Tallman of Council Bluffs, died several years ago. Nickell was a retired machinist on the Union and Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Excelsior Lodge F. and A.M. of Council Bluffs. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Naomi Anderson, Omaha and Mrs. Patricia Davis, Stuart, FLa; a son, Raymond of Omaha; seven brothers, Ree, Ren, Ed, Flim, John, Charley, and Kelly, and one sister, Molly, all of Ohio and five grandchildren, Ed, Flim and Kelly attended the funeral. Wolfe County News - March 6, 1960 CLARENCE TRIMBLE IS TAKEN BY DEATH Clarence Trimble, 85 of the Lacy Creek section of Wolfe County, died March 14 in Jane Cook Hospital in Frenchburg. He had been ill several weeks. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Daysboro Christian Church. Funeral will be conducted in the Hazel Green Christian Church, Wednesday at 1 p.m. The body will lie in state at the church before the funeral rites. Burial will be in the Trimble cemetery at Lacy Creek, Wolfe county with Herald & Stewart Funeral Home in charge. He is survived by his wife, Emma Maloney Trimble; six daughters, Mrs. James Goins of Lexington, Mrs. Joe Hughes of Panama City, Fla., Mrs. Carl Gillen of Cincinnati, Mrs. Harold Deatherage and Mrs. Charles E. Wolfe County News - August 17, 1955 MAN KILLED, 7 HURT IN SUNDAY ACCIDENT A Wolfe County man was killed and seven of his relatives were injured in a auto accident Sunday afternoon at two P.M. about seven miles east of Hazel Green on highway 191. Montgomery Banks, about 55 of Gillmore, died of a broken neck, Herman Hull, manager of Hearne Funeral Home, Campton said. The injured, all admitted to the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington; were Mrs. Chole Banks, 30 of Gillmore, wife of the dead man, cut on forehead and with possible head and collarbone fractures. Listed in fair condition. Dexter Banks, 7 fracured left leg, good condition, Glenn Banks, possible head injury and possible fracture jaw. Condition serious, age unknown. Asbury Banks, 82, also of Gillmore, both legs fractured and multiple face cuts. Condition serious. Miss Elizabeth Banks, 15 of Rosefork, forehead and left knee cuts and a possible heard injury, condition fair. Mrs. Sophia Banks, 38, Rosefork, injured in right leg and possible rib fracture. Listed as in good condition. George Banks, 48, Rosefork, cut left eyelid and possible head injury. Listed in fair condition. Hull said the accident occurred after a front tire blew out. The car jumped a shallow ditch beside the road and ran into a field. The car did not overturn and did not hit any object, Hull said. Carole
