Wolfe County News - April 23, 1958 WOLFE NATIVE DIES IN TEXAS AT AGE OF 92 News was received here this week by Mrs. Rebecca Russell, of the death of her uncle, L.C. Graham, a native Wolfe Countian at his home in Lancaster, Texas, Friday, April 11th at the age of 92. Funeral services were conducted at Laurel Land Memorial Park on Sunday, April 13. He was born in Hazel Green and was educated in the public shcools of Wolfe County and at Hazel Green Academy. He marired Nannie C. Little in 1880. She preceded him in death in 1957. Mr. Graham taught in the public schools at Hazel Green before moving to Lancaster, Texas. He was a member of the Lancaster Presbyterian Church and also a Mason. Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Elsie Hawks, Miss Peggy Graham, and Mrs. Roy Kirkpatrick all of Lancaster and Mrs. John D. Lowe of Dallas; three grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Wolfe County News - April 23, 1958 LENGTHY ILLNESS CLAIMES LIFE OF MRS. IDA KASH Mrs. Ida Hatfield Kash, 74, died at her home on Gillmore Saturday, April 19th, after a long illness. She was the widow of the late James L. Kash. She was a member of the Daysboro Christian Church. She is survived by three sons, Roy Kash, Mt. Sterling; Edgar Kash, Campton and Lincoln Kash, Helechawa. Also three daughters, Mrs. Ora Rose, Hazel Green; Mrs. Nettie Benton and Mrs. Dorothy Skidmore both of Dayton, Ohio. One brother, Albelt Hatfield, Mt. Sterling; four sisters, Mrs. Ella McCoy, Huntington, W.Va., Mrs. Octavia Whitt, Ronsom, KY, and Mrs. Maude Goldie, Versailles, Ky. 16 grand children and six great grandchildren. Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, at the Daysboro Christian Chruch with Rev. Willie Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Kash Family Cemetery on Gillmore under direction of B.F. Porter & Son. Carole
Wolfe County News - May 7, 1958 DEATH CLAIMES ANDREW FULKS AT LEXINGTON Andrew J. Fulks, 52, of 406 Henry Clay Boulevard, Lexington, and a former resident of Winchester, died Tuesday, April 29, at the Good Samaritan Hospital Lexington, following a short illness. Mr. Fulks was produce buyer for the Kentucky Food Stores, a position he had held for the past 12 years. Prior to that time he was with the McClure-Harper Grocery Company here and was in the insurance business. Mr. Fulks attended the public schools here and was a veteran of World War II where he served with the U.S. Army. He was born in Wolfe County, a son of the late Kelly and Alice Hanks Fulks, and was a member of the Park Methodist Church in Lexington. Mrs. Fulks and his wife, the former Miss Ethel Epperson, resided in Winchester most of their lives prior to moving to Lexington approximately eight years ago. In addition to his wife, surviviors include a daughter, Miss Margaret McCullum Fulks, Lexington; two brothers, Lloyd Fulks and C.N. Fulks, both of Sharonville, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Thursday at the grave in the Winchester Cemetery by the Rev. W.H. Poer, pastor of Park Methodist Church, Lexington. Carole
Wolfe County News - Nov. 5, 1958 LESTER KING, 34 DIES OF WOUND Lester King, 34, was shot in the back in Menifee county and was killed on Oct. 25. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo King of Bowen; three brothers, Daniel B. King, Dayton, Ohio; Elvin and W.S. King, Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Ernest E. Smith, Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Claude Jones, Germantown, Ohio and Mrs. Bruce L. Vires, Mt. Sterling, Ky. Funeral services were in charge of B.F. Porter and Son Funeral Home at the Pinehill Baptist Church, Zachariah, Sunday, Oct. 26. Burial was in the Adams cemetery on Beattyville Road. Rev. John Frank Powell officiated at the funeral. Carole
Wolfe County News - Dec. 3, 1958 WOLFE NATIVE DROWNS IN OHIO Mrs. Nathan Brewer of Campton received word last week from her sister, Mrs. Margaret Allen of Middletown, Ohio, that her son, Albert Allen, about 45 had been drowned while out fishing in a boat in Tennessee. His body was found on Thanksgiving day. The body was returned for burial to Monroe, Ohio where funeral services and burial took place on Sunday, Nov. 30. Survivors include the mother, Mrs. Margaret Allen; one sister, Mrs. Daisey Oldfield; three brothers, Joe, Robert and Elbert Allen all of Middletown, Ohio, but formerly of Wolfe County. Albert was the son of the late Joab Allen of Wolfe County and also the nephew of Mrs. Nathan Brewer of Campton. Carole

She was the widow of the late Millard F. Horton. She has three brothers residing in Wolfe County, John, Edward and Bradley Sewell and one sister, Mrs. Martha Smith. Wolfe County News - Dec. 3, 1958 WOLFE NATIVE DIES OF CANCER Rogers, KY - (Received too late for last week) - Mrs. H.C. Spencer received a message that her nephew, Thodore Witt (Ted) of Middletown, Ohio died Friday morning at a rest home there. He died of cancer of the stomach. He was the son of the late Rev. Joseph Witt and Nannie Adams Witt. Survivors include a son and a daughter of Middletown, O.; a sister, Mrs. Floyd South; a brother, Eugene Witt; a half brother, Jack Witt, all of Middletown, O.; two half sisters, Elizabeth McIntosh, Jackson, KY. and Sallie Witt of Jackson; also several nieces and nephews. He was the nephew of John Adams of Rogers and also of H.C. Spencer of this place and had other relatives near here, Rev. L.O. Osborne of Campton and Rev. Omer Spencer of Pine Ridge conducted service here at the Church of God Sunday. Carole
Wolfe County News - Oct. 29, 1958 JOHN E. MILLER FUNERAL HELD AT HAZEL GREEN Funeral services for John E. Miller, 93?, who died at a nursing home in Winchester Friday afternoon Oct. 23 were held in Hazel Green Sunday afternoon at 1:00 at the Methodist Church. Rev. Joe Nevius, pastor of the West LIberty Christian Church, conducted the funeral. Burial was in Hazel Green cemetery under direction of the Hearne Funeral Home. He is survived by one son, O.L. Miller of Winchester, and a daughter, Mrs. Ora Arnett of Lee City; and two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Cable, Campton and Mrs. Zerilda Hanks, Middletown, Ohio and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. It was Mr. Miller's request that no flowers be sent to his funeral but the money which would be spent in this way be given to some worthy cause in his memory. $10 was donated to the Wolfe County Health Clinic in his honor and memory from the R.L. Wolfe County News - Dec. 10, 1958 WOLFE NATIVE PASSES IN OHIO James Harlan Rose, 64, of Eldorado, Ohio, died at 5 p.m. Dec. 3 at Wayne Hosptal, Greenville, Ohio after suffering a heart attack at 11 p.m. Tuesday night at his home. He was a retired employee of the Inland Manufacturing Co., a division of General Motors, Dayton, Ohio. He was a native of Wolfe county. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Barbara Hollon Rose; two sons, Fred and Sterling of Eldorado, Ohio; two daughters; Mrs. Rachel Bollinger, Eaton, Ohio, and Mrs. Allene Richer (a twin) of West Alexander, Ohio (Alvs the other twin is deceased is dead); nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Cartwright, Princeton, Ky., and Mrs. Letha Wells, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Rev. Charlie Rose, Hazel Green, Ky., and Jess Rose, Middletown, Ohio and a host of friends and relatives in both Wolfe county and in Ohio. He had been a resident of Eldorado for 14 years. She had been ill for sometime. She was the widow of the late J.C. Taulbee, who preceded her in death in 1944. She was a long time member of the Church of God at Belknap. She is survived by five daughters; Mrs. James H. Dunn, Campton, Ky.; Mrs. Pearlie Strong, Lee City, KY.; Mrs. Harvey Rudd, Belknap, KY., Mrs. Madge Holbrook, Ashalnd, KY.; and Mrs. Daisy Duncan, Cincinnati, Ohio; four sons; Courtney Taulbee, Lee City, KY., Perry Taulbee, Taulbee, KY.; Seldon Taulbee, Louisville, Ky.; and J.W. Taulbee, Belknap, Ky. Wolfe County News - Nov. 5, 1958 DOUBLE FUNERAL SUNDAY FOR AGED DAYSBORO PAIR Double funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Grassy Lick Church for an elderly Daysboro couple who died on following days. Taylor Long, 78, died at his home Thursday, Oct. 23, after an illness of 10 years, and Mrs. Long died the next night. Mrs. Long, 74, had been in ill health. He was the son of Fence long and Jane Robison. The couple is survived by three children; Sylvia Brewer of West LIberty; Mary Ruth Phipps of Hazel Green, and Fred Long of Daysboro. Mr. Long also is survived by two sisters, Aldonia Montgomery of Osborne, Kansas, and Lennie Moore of Topeka Kansas. Other survivors of Mrs. Long, who was the former Flora Sheets, include the following brothers and sisters; T.F. Sheets and Harve Sheets of West Liberty; Irvin Sheets of Indiana; Rosa Bell Carpenter of Cox; Fannie Coffee of Big Rock, Tenn., and Mrs. Walter Farmers of Bluefield, W.Va. ten grandchildren survive. She was a member of the Daysboro Christian Church. Survivors include the son, Walter Rose, Maysville, Ky.; two daughters, Mrs. Willa Kash, Germantown, O.; and Mrs. Hattie Sharp; Smithville, Mo; three sisters, Mrs. Andrew Watson, Dayton, O., Mrs. Ella Arnett and Miss Trina Walters, both of Lee City; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
