Wolfe County News - June 21, 1959 NANCY GRIFFITH PASSES JAN. 13TH Mrs. Nancy Griffith of Jackson, Ky., age about 69, died Tuesday night, Jan. 13 in a Winchester nursing home where she had been for sometime. Funeral conducted at Jackson and burial was in the Evans Cemetery at Campton Jan. 16. Mrs. W.H. Reynolds of Jackson was her daughter. Mr. J.T. Reynolds and daughter, Freda Reynolds Ballard, both of Lexington and Kenneth Ray Reynolds of Eri, Pa., who is a son of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Reynolds of Jackson, came to Campton to attend the burial of Mrs. Griffith. While in Campton they stopped for a brief visit with Mrs. Kathryn Riggs, the mother of W.H. Reynolds, Mrs. Riggs was not able to attend the burial or funeral. Mrs. Seldon Cable of Baptist was a sister of Mrs. Griffith. Carole
Wolfe County News - Oct. 7, 1959 MRS. LETHA ROSE WELLS, daughter of the late James and Rachel Brown Rose, born on Stillwater, Wolfe County, Kentucky, Oct. 15, 1892 died on Oct. 2, 1959 in Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 13 days. She had been a Christian for forty years and was a member of the Church of God in Wolfe County. She was a graduate of Wolfe County High School and Lees Junior College at Jackson and attended Kentucky Wesleyan College at Winchester and had special teachers training in the University of Kentucky. She taught in the public schools of Wolfe County for thirty years and retired because of ill health. She was united in marriage on April 6, 1910 to David Wells who died June 10, 1950. She is survived by three sons, Lovell, James and Charles Wells, all of Dayton, Ohio; and one daughter, Mrs. Lorna Ratliff of Eldorado, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Emma Rose Cartwright of Princeton, KY and two brothers Jess Rose, Middletown, Ohio and Rev. Charlie Rose of Hazel Green and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her. Funeral services were held at Price's Creek Church of the Brethren, West Manchester, O., Sunday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Northcutt, pastor of the First Church of God, Eaton, Ohio, officiating. Michael Funeral arrangements. Burial was in the Monroe Cemetery beside her late husband. Wolfe County News - July 1, 1959 J.S. TAULBEE, 89 DIES AT STANTON James Sherman Taulbee, 89 retired farmer and merchant, died unexpectledly of a heart attack at his home at Stanton early June 27. He was a native of Wolfe county and a member of the Cane Creek Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alice Taulbee, Stanton; three daughters, Mrs. Nannie Tewart of Cincinnati, Mrs. Dorothy Hoffman, Mt. Summit, Ind., and Mrs. Mila Combs of Owensboro; three sons, Roscoe and Clifford Taulbee of Flat, and Oscar Taulbee of Owensboro; two brothers, Willis Taulbee of Wisconsin and Mort Taulbee of Mary, Ky.; three sisters, Mrs. Letha Terrill, Mrs. Edith Amburgy and Mrs. Julia Allen, all of Campton, and six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Stanton Christian Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Foster officiating. Burial was in the Evans cemetery at Campton with Hearne Funeral Home in charge. Wolfe County News - July 8, 1959 INDIA CRACE, 52 PASSES JULY 4TH Miss India Crace, 52, died at the home of a sister on Lacy Creek, Saturday, July 4, after a long illness. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include her father, Floyd Crace, Helechawa; six brothers, Charley Crace of Stillwater, Osa Crace of Davin, Ohio; A.C. Crace of Sellars; Eugene Crace of Dayton, Ohio, John of Carlisle, Ohio, and Henry of McArr, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Daisy Combs of Helechawa; Mrs. E.R. Mitchell of Winfield, Kansas; Mrs. E.T. Nickell, Carlisle, Ohio, and Mrs. Burton Mulcahy, Lacy Creek, at whose home she died. Funeral services were conducted at the Helechawa schoolhouse by Rev. Forrest Bailey at 2 p.m. Monday, July 6. Hi Norma, Yes, I, too, have Isabella Rose as a daughter of Robert & Easter Rose. She married James McKinney Sept. 7, 1840 in Clay Co., KY. He was born about 1820. Eddie, little son of F. N. Day and wife, of this place has fever and is very sick. Sam Kash, a brilliant young lawyer of Mt. Sterling, passed through here on last Friday. Mrs. J. G. Trimble, of Mt. Sterling, is visiting her daughter, Mr. J. Taylor Day and other relatives at this place. S. D. Howerton, a brother of John of the Hazel Green Mill Co., was her Monday. he lives at White Oak , in Morgan. Their ages are Nancy Ward 73, Fannie Hainline 64 and Louisa Hogg 60. Died on the 6th inst., Henry Combs, of Breathitt County, father of Alfred and S. S. Combs, of flux. Wolfe County News - April 22, 1959 MACK ROSE, 52 PASSES SUNDAY Malcolm H. (Mack) Rose, 52 died Sunday April 19, at 7:10 p.m. in the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington after a three day illness. He was a member of the Methodist church, Cox Lodge No 404 F. A.M. Campton, Shriners, Lexington; and Scotish & Ancient Rites, Covington. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served four years in the U.S. Navy with a rating of seaman second class. He was a chariman of local Board No. 121 and county treasurer. He owned and operated Rose's Department Store and Rose's Hotel in Campton, where he and his wife have been in business since 1935. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Thelma Corine Rose, Campton, and one son, James Edward, a sophomore at Eastern State College at Richmond; three brothers, E.C. Rose, Pebworth, Ky., Sam Rose, Campton, and Green Rose, Jackson. Funeral services were conducted at the Campton Methodist Church Tuesday, April 21 with Rev. Sewell Woodward, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Richmond Cemetery at RIchmond, Ky., with Masonic rites at the graveside. B.F. Porter & Son had charge of all arrangements. Pallbearers were Hendrix Allen, James Allen, Jr., Ralph Lockard, Omer Catron, Steve Rose, Charlie Murphy, Corbett Pelfrey and Taylor Booth. Carole
