Wolfe County News - April 27, 1960 STELLA TRENT, 67, PASSES APRIL 12th Stella May Trent, 67, wife of Elec Boyd Trent, died at her home at 12:30 a.m. April 12. She had been ill for a number of months. She was a member of the Church of God. She is survived by four sons; Luther Trent, North Judson, Ind.; Orville, Arnold and Calloway Trent, all of Dayton, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Tyra and Mrs. Darley Banks, both of Campton; and Mrs. Jean Powell, Chicago, Ill.; one brother, Andy Watkins of Fairborn, Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. Alice Trent of Campton; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral was conducted April 14 at the Campton First Church of God with Rev. Coy Rigney officiating. Burial was in the Evans Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of B.F. Wolfe County News - Aug. 10, 1960 MRS. CALLIE LITTLE DIES AT GILLMORE Mrs. Callie Little, 61, died Aug. 2 at the home of Miss Forrestine Little at Gillmore after a long ilness. She was the d/o the late Joseph and Elizabeth Lindon Miller. Survivors include five sons, Herbert and Ova Little, Mt. Sterling; Miles and R.B., Middletown, Ohio; and Oda Little, Cincinnati; five daughters, Mrs. James Carroll and Mrs. Arthur Baker of Alexandria; Mrs. Forrest Hall, Trenton, Ohio; Mrs. James Southers, Middletown, Ohio; and Miss Forrestine Little, Gillmore; two brothers, Joe and Howard Miller of Stillwater; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Combs, Mrs. Maude Colums and Miss Ella Miller all of Stillwater, Miss Minnie Swope of Slade and Mrs. Fern Carroll of McLeansboro, Ill; 38 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A native of Wolfe County, she was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors are her husband, John White, three sons, William E. and James E. White, Dayton, Ohio and Raymond White, Campton; five daughters, Mrs. Bertie Centers and Miss Mattie White, Campton; Mrs. Deborah Miniard, Detroit, Mich; Mrs. Emma Goodson, Atlanta, GA., and Mrs. Ethyl Thompson, Mt. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Steele; three daughters, Miss Mignon Steele of Miami, Fla., Miss Bonnie Steele of Campton and Mrs. Grace Roebelle of Cincinnati; five sons, Ora and Henry Steele, Pittsburgh, Penna., Manson Steele of Cincinnati; Wellington Steele of Dayton, Ohio and William Steele, Jr., of Campton. She was a member of the Campton Baptist Church and a member of Eve Chapter 272, Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors inlcude four sons, Robert Horton, Beattyville; Dan Horton, Dayton, Ohio; Charles Horton, Fairfield, Ohio; and Rollie Horton, Springboro, Ohio; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Campbell, Campton; Mrs. Jane Walters, West Liberty; Mrs. Lennie Carter, Middletown, Ohio; Mrs. Winnie Alexander, Campton, and Mrs. Sadie Dietmyer, Middletown, Ohio; two brothers, Rollie Reynolds, Beattyville, and James Reynolds, Middletown; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Tolson, Campton, and Mrs. Sarah Charles, Presquie Isle, Wis., and 23 grandchildren. Wolfe County News - April 1952 FUNERAL RITES IN POWELL FOR MRS. D. CREECH Committal services for Mrs. Caroline Creech wife of the Rev. Don Creech former pastor of the Morris Creek Baptist Church were held Sunday afternoon, April 20 in the Stanton Cemetery. She was returned here from Deputy, Indiana, where she and Bro Creech were living at the time of her passing on Saturday, April 19. Formal funeral rites will be held the fourth Sunday in August at the Memorial Meeting of the Missionary Baptist Church of Morris Creek. Mrs. Creech was born in Breathitt County, a daughter of Wesley and Armenia Miller Trent, on March 23, 1868. At the age of 18 she was united in holy wedlock with Don Creech at the old Bethel Church in Wolfe County. On January 27 of this year, the Rev. and Mrs. Creech celebrated their 66th Wedding Anniversary. They moved to Powell County in 1920 and only a short while ago they moved from Morris Creek to Deputy, Indiana. Fourteen children were born to the union of Caroline and Don Creech, half of whom survive in addition to Bro Creech. They are: Three daughters, Oma Abner, Stanton, Nancy Brewer, Campton and Savannah Hatton, Versailles, four sons, Liberty Creech and Alfred Creech, both of Deputy, Indiana, Wesley Creech, West Bend and Elijah Creech, Newport. Wolfe County News - July 8, 1959 JACK HOLLON, 79 PASSES JULY 1ST Jack Hollon, 79, died at his home at Landsaw Wednesday, July 1, at 6:30 p.m. following a lengthy illness. He had been a member of the Landsaw Church of Christ for 55 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Laura Cockerham Hollon, four sons, Willie Hollon, Crittenden; Edgar Hollon, South Lyons, Mich.; Ray and Leslie Hollon, both of Campton rural; three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth James, Dry Ridge; Mrs. Pearl Taulbee and Mrs. Mae Center, both of Campton rural and one half sister, Mrs. Esther Hanes of Covington, KY and a host of other relatives and friends. Three sons preceded him in death, two in infancy, and the other, Pvt. Stanley Hollon was killed in battle during World War II. Funeral was conducted Friday, July 3, at the Church of Christ at Landsaw with Rev. Francis M. Deaton, Willie Taylor and John Dalton officiating. Burial was in the Cockerham cemetery at Landsaw with Hearne Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were all grandsons except Charlie Dalton. They included, Pvt. Jack Hollon, James L. Center, Tyler Taulbee, Osa Hollon and Hager Lee Hollon. The deceased was one who always filled his seat in the church house regularly as long as he was able to attend. He will be sadly missed by all. He served as a deacon for several years. In the home he was a fine husband and a tender, loving father. Carole
