Clay City Times - Nov. 20, 1941 The remains of John Creech and three sons were brought to Wolfe county for burial Thursday, November 13. They were killed in Comstock, Michigan. Mr. Creech was taking the children to school on Monday morning through a snow storm and at a railroad crossing a freight train passed. Mr. Creech, not seeing an approaching passenger train, started to cross the track and his car was struck by the train which killed the three children, Junior, 12, Charles, 10 and Joel, 8 instantly. Mr. Creech was injured but lived until Wednesday. Mrs. Creech and one small son survive. After their burial at High Falls, Mrs. Creech was returning to the home of her father Rev. Noah Creech, at Lombard in her bother, Sidney Creech's car when it was struck by a coal truck. She and her baby son, had a narrow escape. The driver did not stop. Mrs. Creech has the sympathy of many people. When four of a family are taken at once it is almost unbearable but God has promised to us that he will not put more on us than we are able to bear. In a later paper, Jan. 8, 1942 We read in the High Falls news in the Dec. 25th issue of the Times that Earl Peck who was injured in the car wreck that killed John Creech and his three small sons, was at home and able to walk with crutches which we are glad to hear. The writer does not know Mr. Peck but Mr. Creech, with his family, has visited and attended Church here and was known as a good citizen. He was a member of the Baptist church. Carole

Jackson Times - I forgot to get the date or year on this one, but think it was 1918 Miss Alice B. Combs of Jackson and Roy R. May, of near Hazel Green were married Christmas evening at 7 o'clock at the residence of Brother S.H. Pollitt and left on the 10 o'clock train Wednesday morning for Louisville and other points. Mr. May had been a successful salesman for Wilson and Company of Cincinnati, Ohio for the past four years, but is now in the service for Uncle Sam and will return to Camp Taylor Jan. 1st to answer roll call while the happy but lonely bride returns to Jackson to resume her position as stenographer in the Jackson Real Estate and Insurance Company's office where she has been employed for several years where she has given a service that must have been satisfactory. She is the eldest of three lovely daughters of Mr. and Mrs. N.B. Combs and is related to many of the best people in the county. The groom is a fine looking young man and ought to make a good husband and a success of whatever he undertakes. Carole
