She was preceded in death by her husband: James Wells, parents: Crit and Rebecca (Rodgers) Friend, Minnie (Hatton) Friend, special aunt and uncle: Gobel and Minnie Rodgers, sisters: Margaret Friend, Joyce Rose, brother: Jessie Hatton, son-in-law: Gary Dill and grandson: Eric Dill. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood). Interment will follow the service at Monroe Township Cemetery near Eldorado. The family will receive friends on Friday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A homemaker, she was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church in Marysville. Dorothy was born May 18, 1920 in Kentucky to the late Delbert and Viola Sparks Jones. She was married to Albert M. Combs who also preceded her in death December 31, 1991.     3. HAZEL GREEN - Roger Ellis Buchanan, 79, was born in Hazel Green, KY, May 11, 1933 to the late John Beverly and Ethel Johnson Buchanan. He was a graduate of Hazel Green Academy and Berea College (1954). He was a member of the Christian Church. He was stationed at the Seventh Army Headquarters in Germany during his two years in the US Army. Roger was employed in IBM's personnel department in 1956. After attending graduate school at the Universities of Kentucky, Alabama and Tennessee, he joined the state's budget office as a Budget Analyst in 1960. He was appointed Kentucky State Budget Director in 1966. In 1972, he was named Deputy Commissioner of Finance, responsible for staffing and reorganizing the state government under Governor Wendell Ford, where he conceived and created the position of Secretary of the Cabinet. Roger later held positions in the Legislative Research Courts, where he traveled to Ecuador in 1965, as a consultant for the US Alliance for Progress. He was named Chief Financial Officer for Northern Kentucky University, by President Dr. A.D. Albright in 1976. For thirty years, he and his brothers owned and operated Walnut Ridge Farm in Georgetown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Ida Nell Buchanan (Marvin) Mitchell and his brothers; Kenneth Allen and George Wilmer "Jack" Buchanan.     2. OWENTON - Carl Banks, 78, of Owenton, KY passed away on May 25, 2012. He was born the youngest of 11 children on Nov 22, 1933 to Stanley and Cora Lee Little in the Mary community of Wolfe County, KY. After graduating from Wolfe County High School, Carl enlisted in the United States Army and served 3 years as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division. He then attended college ultimately earning a doctorate of education from the University of Kentucky. Carl served in many positions from teacher to principle during his career finally retiring as superintendent of Owen County Schools, a position he held for 12 years. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Brakefield Banks, his son James Carl Banks of Madison, AL, his wife Juliann and granddaughters Emma and Sarah; his son Stan Lee Banks of Frankfort, KY, his wife Leigh and grandson Samuel Carl; his son True McClanahan of Louisville, KY, his wife Tammy and his granddaughters Tiernan and Delaney; and his sister, Nancy Jones and her husband Robert, of Miamisburg, OH. In addition to his immediate family, Carl is survived by Geoffrey Geoghegan of Henderson, KY who was like a son to him as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Anna, one of earth's most precious angels, was born October 30, 1932 to Troy and Ida (Sallie) Willis in Wolfe County, Kentucky. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Anna was employed in the grocery business in the Middletown area for 35 years. She was a devoted and longtime member of the Towne Boulevard Church of God and enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and working puzzles. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Roscoe Rogers; two brothers, Lawrence and Henry Willis; sister, Clara Willis; and step-daughter and husband, Bill and Wilma Lykins.     2. LOCKARD, Fred 83, of Middletown, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at The Inn at Renaissance Village. He was born in Campton, Kentucky on April 17, 1928 to parents Hayden and Sallie Belle (Haddix) Lockard. Fred retired from Armco steel after 41 years as an inspector in the spiral pipe division and was an avid bowler at Sports Bowl. Mr. Lockard is survived by his son, Eddie (Charma) Lockard and brother, Selden Lockard, granddaughters, Wendy Burdg and Mandy Lockard; great grandson, Trayden Schumacher; special friend, Olema Highley. Fred was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Edna Mae Wallace. Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 2:30 pm at Woodside Cemetery Chapel, 1401 Woodside Blvd., Middletown with Reverend James Anderson officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 - 2:30 PM at Woodside. Interment will be at Woodside Mausoleum.     2. GLAZE, Joyce L. 78, of Enon, Ohio, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 31, 2012 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She was born in Campton, Kentucky on June 29, 1933, the daughter of the late A.T. and Opal (Miller) Combs Jr. Joyce was a member of Enon United Methodist Church. A gentle spirit, Joyce was loved by all, and a friend to everyone. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Glaze Sr.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lori Glaze Jr. of Enon, John Glaze of Dayton, and Col. George and Valerie Glaze of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Amanda, Sean, and Luke. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Dayspring in Fairborn for the devoted and compassionate care in her last months. Joyce's funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in Enon United Methodist Church, 135 S. Harrison St., Enon, Ohio. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
