Mrs. Bowman was a native of Wolfe County, a member of the Flatrock Community Church, and the widow of the late Estill G. Bowman. She was a daughter of the late John and Emma Brewer Birchfield. Survivors are six sons, Everett Bowman and Scotty Bowman, both of Pomeroyton, Harold Bowman, and Roy Bowman, and Ray Bowman, all of Lexington and Roger Bowman of Campton; two daughters, Elma Branhan of Dayton, Ohio and Oneida Dalton of Florida; 28 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.     3. Wolfe County News - Dec. 12, 1986 Elizabeth Hobbs, Beattyville, d. Nov. 28, at the Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington of a heart attack. Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late Joe and Sarah Dugger Barker and wife of H.B. Hobbs. She was a member of the Baptist Church and she and Mr. Hobbs had been married for sixty four years, they were married March 13, 1922. Survivors besides her husband, are one son, Finley E. Hobbs of Indiana; six daughters, Rena Shoemaker, Shannon Cox, Margaret Drake all of Beattyville, Jo Combs of Fillmore, Eileen Bowman and Mabel Miller both of Ohio; one brother, Keen Barker of Athol, Ky.; 33 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Burial was in the family cemetery of the late John and Lena Margaret Spencer Hobbs. Carole Note: There were two obits in one paper and one obit the next week all were similar but each had a little more information. Mrs. Hobbs was preceded in death by three sons, Marvin, John and Lyle James. Burial in the Hobbs Cemetery on Big Andy Ridge in Lee County with Shackelford Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
