Wolfe County News - 1974 WOLFE NATIVE RUSSELL BRADLEY PASSES NOV. 10 Russell Bradley, a Paintsville resident and retired mechanic, died in a Lexington hospital, Nov. 10, at the age of 57. Born in Wolfe County on Nov. 25, 1916, he was the son of the late John and Delia Parks Bradley. He was a member of the Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Tib) Baldwin Bradley; one son, Jerry Bradley of West Jefferson, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Walsa Wilson, Shelby, Ohio, and three grandchildren. Mrs. Gullett was born Dec. 2, 1889 at Helechawa in Wolfe County a daughter of the late John B. Hollon and Gillia Anne Wilson Hollon. She was preceded in death by her husband C.P. Gullett on April 9, 1980. She was the oldest member of the Hazel Green Christian Church. Survivors are two daughters, Irene Moore of Hazel Green________________of Malone; ____ sons, Cecil P. She was born in Gillmore, Kentucky on April 3, 1916. She was the oldest child of the late C.P. (Pearl) Gullett, Sr., and Bessie Lee Hollon. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hazel Green Christian Church for over 57 years. She held a variety of offices in the church during this time; Sunday school superintendent, secretary and treasurer of the Sunday school, and also taught an adult Sunday school class. She also served in the capacity of secretary and treasurer of the church and chairman of the church board. She was deacon and Elder Emeritus. She leaves her daughter Phyllis Moore-Henderson and son-in-law, H. Gail Henderson, Sr. of Woodstock, GA, one grandson, Herb G. Henderson, Jr., and Kimberly of Decatur, Georgia. Survivors also include two brothers, Davis Gullett of Campton, and Cecil Gullet of Richmond; also 10 nieces and 6 nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Gullett, Sam Gullett, and Herman Gullett and two sisters, Ann Kathryn Lacy and Virginia Melrose Walsh. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Hazel Green Christian Church with Elder Scott Lockard officiating. Burial followed in the Hazel Green Cemetery, with Potter Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

SEWELL, 62 DIES SUDDENLY James Allen Sewell, 62, husband of Grace Dalton Sewell, of Campton, d. suddenly at his home in Campton from a heart attack at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 10. He was a native of Wolfe County and a retired employee of the Warren County, Ohio School Board and a member of the Cox Lodge No 464 F. & A.M. in Campton. He was as/o the late John and Florence Sewell. Other survivors besides his wife include two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Sams, Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Maralyn Taulbee, Troy, Ohio: two brothers, Oral Sewell and Charlie Sewell, of Campton, five sisters, Mrs. Thelma Brewer, Campton, Mrs. Lucenda Dunn, Simpson, Mrs. Evalee Tackett, Winchester, Mrs. Georgia Dalton of Cleveland, Ohio, and Miss Mattie Sewell, and six grandchildren. She was the widow of Menifee Trent and had been staying with her son after the death of her husband about two years ago. She was native of Wolfe County and had lived in the Maytown section for many years. James Lindon b. ca 1834 d. ca 1884 married Louraney Hagins b. ca 1836 d/o Thomas Hagins and Rebecca Walters from Breathitt County. James was said to have been killed by a Wm. Caskey who was a tenant on James' land. Wm. Caskey was taken to Mt. Sterling to the jail and escaped. Looking for an article or facts about this killing.
