Carole Wolfe County News - Jan. 18, 1985 MRS. GULLETT DIES DEC. 24 Mrs. Bess Hollon Gullett, 95, Hazel Green d. Dec. 24 at the Morgan County Appalachian Regional Hospital, West Liberty. Mrs. Gullett was born Dec. 2, 1889 at Helechawa in Wolfe County a daughter of the late John B. Hollon and Gillia Anne Wilson Hollon. She was preceded in death by her husband C.P. Gullett on April 9, 1980. She was the oldest member of the Hazel Green Christian Church. Survivors are two daughters, Irene Moore of Hazel Green________________of Malone; ____ sons, Cecil P. Gullett of Campton, Wilgus Davis Gullett of Campton, Sam Henry Gullett of Malone, Herman H. Gullett of Helechawa and Ray D. Gullett of Lexington; four sisters, Nette H. Nickell, Minnie H. She was born in Gillmore, Kentucky on April 3, 1916. She was the oldest child of the late C.P. (Pearl) Gullett, Sr., and Bessie Lee Hollon. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Hazel Green Christian Church for over 57 years. She held a variety of offices in the church during this time; Sunday school superintendent, secretary and treasurer of the Sunday school, and also taught an adult Sunday school class. She also served in the capacity of secretary and treasurer of the church and chairman of the church board. She was deacon and Elder Emeritus. She leaves her daughter Phyllis Moore-Henderson and son-in-law, H. Gail Henderson, Sr. of Woodstock, GA, one grandson, Herb G. Henderson, Jr., and Kimberly of Decatur, Georgia. Survivors also include two brothers, Davis Gullett of Campton, and Cecil Gullet of Richmond; also 10 nieces and 6 nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Gullett, Sam Gullett, and Herman Gullett and two sisters, Ann Kathryn Lacy and Virginia Melrose Walsh. Funeral service 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Hazel Green Christian Church with Elder Scott Lockard officiating.
