Rita Thanks for your post. Re: Elizabeth Lawson & Daniel Wilts Holt. Elizabeth's older brother Henry & Lucinda Bennet Lawson's dau Rachel Lawson died at 23, leaving my grandmother Lucinda Case and 3 siblings motherless. Elizabth and Wilts Holts cared for these children until their father, Bill Case remarried, Rachel's cousin, Mary "Polly" Lawson, daughter of Andrew & Telitha Rose Lawson. (Andrew was a son of Isham and Nancy Croley Lawson.) My grandmother talked often of the love she felt for Elizabeth and Wilts Holt. Their kindess and love was never forgotten by grandma. Wold like to have met your husband, Rita. Being cousins I know we would have had ,many memories to share. Do ou have any pictures of these older Lawson relatives of your husbands you might be able to share? One thing about getting married in Jellico, Cane creek and other areas south of the Cumberland didn't have to bother crossing the river is they went south to Jellico. That river has always been quick to swell and overflow it's banks. Seen it many times as a child visiting grandma in the Lawson Bend.......Lois Tonoff In answer to your question of descends from Isham and Nancy Croley Lawson. My husband Howard Lawrence Holt born Jan3, 1919 in Douglas County, Mo. was descended form this line. Isham and Nancy were his Great Great grandparents, through their daughter Elizabeth Lawson born ca 1838 in Whitley County, Ky. she married Daniel Wilson Holt in 1856, Campbell County, Tn. which is adjoining Whitley County, Ky. (Jellico Campbell County, Tn.) has a portion of the town that is in Whitley County, Ky. Many people from Whitley County, Ky. married there as it was closer than Williamsburg, Ky. the county seat of Whitley. My husband died Sept. 14, 1995 Springfield, Mo. Just thought you might like this info. In talking to several old timers on various visits to the area, and these men who were also descendants, they all claimed Isham's father was Nathan Lawson and his father was also Nathan Lawson. Isham came to the area when he was 15 years of age. This information was gathered in the 1980's.
