I'm not researching this family but for the sake of getting accurate information out there this is what the Whitley County Historical book has documented about James Madison Lawson: "James Madison Lawson, born near Barbourville at Swan Pond, Knox County, Ky. June 6, 1869. He was the 8th son of Nathan Lawson and Malinda Bennett Lawson. He came to Whitley County to live in the late 1800's and married the former Minnie Siler around 1900. Both James' father, Nathan Lawson, and Minnie's father, Charles siler, served together in the Civil War. Born to James and Minnie Lawson were seven children, namely: Everett, Ida, Josephian, Edward, Raymond, Andrew, and Robert..." It goes on to say that James was a member of the Whitley County Bar Association and the Kentucky Bar Association. He was also a teacher.
