    3. Janet, This other Amos Bennett b. 1810 is mystifying. Is it possible he is an older brother to Wm Bias (Tobias) Bennett, being probably the first-born of Levi and Nancy Harp Bennett who married in 1809? But where has he been? I guess he could have been living anywhere, really. Does anyone have access to a census record of Levi listing his male and female children, maybe 1810 thru 1830? You question whether he could be the 1850 Amos Bennett listed with wife Elizabeth and state that the names of children don't match up with those of your Amos b. 1791. I missed this completely and am very interested in the names of those children. What I did find on the 1850 when I had access some years ago was Whitley 1850 census (this is all I jotted down; I've learned better since then; The handwriting was awful, it LOOKED like Bocce, Beece, Reece Bnunet): Reece (?sp) Bennet (?) 59, NC Elizabeth 57 TN Kissiah F 15 TN Susannah 6 Do you, or others have any info on this family? Could this possibly be the same listing you mention above? Of course the age is far off from 1810 Amos; this one indicates birth abt. 1791. Would sure like to know more about an Amos Bennett who married one of the Rose girls (per your observation at the last). Janet thank you for anything you have or can find; you are a whiz and I for one appreciate it. This is William Bias (Tobias) Bennett, son of Levi Bennett and Nancy Harp - per S. Withers ================================================== My ancestor, Amos Bennett, Sr. was born 7/22 1791, therefore, this record is either not my Amos Bennett, Sr. or else the age on this record, the marital status and the state of birth are wrong. And why would he have been associated with #88 W. B. Bennett household (s/o Levi) instead of any one of his eight children? My Amos Bennett, Sr. would have been 78 or 79 years old in 1870 and he was not a widower as Sarah was living in 1880. 1880 Census - Whitley Co., Ky. #102-105 Bennett Benjamin 62 Catherine 62 Elizabeth 18 Sarah ? 80 or 90 mother NC (mid-wife) - (age is not clear) Could the Amos Bennett born c1810 have been one of the 3 sons of John Bennett listed on the 1810 and 1820 census records? Could he have been the Amos Bennett w/wife Elizabeth listed on the 1850 census? The 1850 census was not a listing for Amos Bennett born 1791 TN as none of the children match up with the children of Amos and Sarah (Hamblin) Bennett. Could he have been the Amos Bennett who ?? married one of the "Rose" girls? 3. HI Bobbie, I'm pretty sure that Levi & Nancy (Harp) Bennett only had 2 sons; Wm Bias and BenAger. I was wondering if the "other Amos" might have been one of the 3 sons of John Bennett. What happened to them? The other Bennett sons have been accounted for, but who were the three sons of John Bennett? As for the Reece on the 1850 Whitley County Census, I believe he was a Brummett and per Kathleen Stanfield Cook's "Index of 1850 Whitley County Kentucky Federal Census" Reece Brummett was married to Elizabeth Miller 3/5/1847 (?Knox Co). Guess that was a second marriage. As for the Rose girls who married Bennett boys; I probably should not have mentioned it as (I think) I only have the hardcopy record, by the late Glenn Johnson of California, stashed away in a box somewhere. I doubt that I had source information with it any way. From memory, it was regarding information on the Bennetts, Langstons, and Roses of Granville Co., NC and had to do with the Elizabeth Rose who married Edward Bennett. Seems like two of her sisters married Bennetts and one of them was named Amos/Amous. I do have a lot of information that I would like to share; it's just finding the time to do it! Janet
