    2. T. J. Rollings
    3. Hello. I am a decendant of the Reeves and Tye's of Whitley County, Kentucky as well. I would be very interested if anyone would have any info that could tie my g.grandfather to any of your ancestors. His name was William (Will) Reeves. He was born 1884 and died 1936. He is buried in Bingham Cemetary, Whitley County, Kentucky. He was married three times. His first wife was probably named Freda (last name unknown). They had one child. His second wife was named Elva (Elvy) A. Godsey. They had two children. His third wife was named Phebie F. Wells. They had eight children. I have more information on this branch of the Reeves' family and would love to share. I also have Tye's in my ancestory. Elizabeth Jane Tye (born 1832, died 1911) was married to Richard Henry Alsip (born 1820, died 1904). They are my g.g.g. grandparents. 2. Next week I will scan the pictures and send them to you via an email attachment. I have several notebooks of data on Whitley County families that I have not reviewed in detail yet. If I run across anything else on the Laws line I will let you know. I'm not really collecting any info on them. Babe Fuson gave me a bunch of her files when she retired as President of the Whitley County Historical Society. I have given copies of a lot of them to the archives in Frankfort. I try to use them to benefit people researching families in that area. 2. Beth, is the William Laws, age 65, died 1-18-1920 in Bell County, KY not your William Laws... Vol. 1, Cert. 94? I'm not sure when the Pineville Hospital in Bell County was built, but he could have died there. Sometimes grave markers are wrong and sometimes the dates are transcribed wrong. You can order a death certificate for $1 from Chester Ward and see if you think this is him. It did not give place of residence. Mary Siler A MERRY HEART DOETH GOOD LIKE A MEDICINE. 2. Hi Jan. Nice to hear from you again. Yes, George is my family. He was my Grandma Bessie's brother. I have lots of pictures of this family if you have any interest. I realize they are connected to you through the Moses line, so somewhat remote. There is a picture in the back of "The Moses Tribe of Kentucky" of Joseph "Bud" and Josephine Laws Moses, parents of the compiler of the book, Richard Moses. That Josephine is Olive Josephine Laws, daughter of my William and Martha Ellison Laws. I would love copies of the articles on George and Helen June, if you are up to it. I'd be happy to pay any costs associated. Thanks for responding and I hope you continue to feel better! Beth

    1. Re: [KYWHITLE] William Laws/Molly Ellison
    2. Hi Beth: I know we corresponded a few times but I have been in the hospital several times this year and have not felt much like working on my genealogy. I am off work on sick leave now and finally think I am on the road to recovery. I did find my notes that had been gathered by a George M. Laws, son of Polly Moses Laws but they don't address the Laws side of the family just the Moses side. I do have an old newspaper article about George M. Laws when he was working for the navy. This George Laws lived in Sidney, Ohio. I also have an article about his daughter Helen when she enlisted in the womens' Air Force at the age of 18. Are these your family? 2. Hello. I'm looking for information on my great-great grandfather, William Laws. He married Mary (Molly) Ellison in Williamsburg in 1867. William and Molly are buried in the Old Baptist Church cemetery in Old Wolf Creek. The tombstone apparently gives William's D.O.D. as 7/7/1922 but I can not find a record of where he died to get a death certificate. I am looking for information about William's parents and grandparents. I have been told that his parents were James Laws and Lizzie Powell but I have no confirmation of this. I have also been told that James was the child of Mary Laws and a Kels Rose, for whom Mary worked. Mary may have been the daughter of a Joseph Laws of Murphy, North Carolina. Any information on William or Molly would be very helpful. William and Molly's children were: Olive Josephine (married William (Bud) Moses), Mattison (Matt) Powell Laws, Mary Frances (married a Witt), John Melton (Melt) married Polly Moses (my great grandparents) and Melinda Alifair (Sis). 2. Looking for researchers of the Harmon line in Whitley County. I descend from Jacob Harmon, b. Feb. 22, 1785, d. 1824 (age 39) in Whitley Co., KY. He married Mary "Polly" Shelly on Oct. 22, 1807. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Shelly and Jane Campbell. Mary Shelly was born Feb. 23, 1787 in either TN or NC, and she died in 1852 in Whitley Co., KY. Their children were: Mary "Polly Harmon, b Jan. 11, 1822, married Josiah Smith Jeremiah Harmon, b. Aug. 18, 1808 Jane "Jennie" Harmon, b. Oct. 15, 1811 John Harmon, b. Mar. 10, 1813 Elizabeth Harmon, b. Dec. 9, 1814 Sarah "Sally" Harmon, b. April 9, 1817 Valentine Harmon, b. Mar. 2, 1819 Peter Harmon, b. Oct. 10, 1823 Nathan Harmon, b. Jan. 1, 1810 Jacob Harmon, b. 1821 I'm trying to confirm who Jacob's parents were. There is a Valentine Harmon who appears on the 1820 Census that is 45 yeas old, and is a possiblity for Jacob's father, as he did name one of his children Valentine. Jacob would have been 25 in 1820, so the ages would also be appropriate. Kristi Cox Dayton, OH

    1. [KYWHITLE] Reeves-Goins line
    2. Rhonda, I don't have much on your Reeves, but my husband does connect to the Goins you mentioned. I have Elizabeth Ann Goins, daughter of John & Isabella (Pebely/Peverly) Goins. I have her husbands listed as James Moore and Christopher Columbus Reeves. Andrew Lawson Goins who married Harriett Malinda Reeves was the brother of Elizabeth Ann. Was Harriett and Christopher siblings? I have Christopher's father listed as George Washington Reeves and Harriett's parents as George Reeves and Elizabeth Hood. Since they married into the same family, I think they might have been related...Harriett and Christopher, that is. Mary Siler

    2. Richard, What dates do you have on these people? One of my Reeves' grandchildren was named Speed Reeves. George Washington Reeves' son was Abel Reeves' and his son was Christopher Columbus Reeves (#2) and he had a son named Speed L. Reeves who was born abt. 1886. I've been wondering where that name came from. Does any of this sound familar or fit in your time frame? We may have some people in common, I need to do some more checking. Rhonda

    2. Mary, Is Betty a nickname for Elizabeth? I have Betty Ann Goins as being a wife to Christopher Columbus Reeves. Was James Moore her first husband? Christopher Columbus Reeves and Harriet Melinda Reeves were siblings and I was told they married a brother and sister. Christopher and Harriet's parents were the same, George Washington Reeves and Elizabeth Hood.
