don't have a file on this family however there are some references to this line in the Whitley County Historical book. One is the family of Wolford Moses who married Nancy Campbell. Nancy was the daughter of J. Duncan Campbel and Nancy Parks. Nancy Parks was the daughter of Uriah Parks, one of the first Gentlemen Justices of Whitley County. There is also a Perkins article about Don Campbel Perkins. The Bell County History book has 3 Campbell articles including one on David Campbell who came into what was then Knox County, Ky. in 1807. Thanks Terri, that helps narrow them down. Mary Siler
Dear Folks, When I posted my original query on the 20th about the Daniel Boone aka Hal Somebody parkway, I posted it to 2 lists-- Whitley and Cumberland River. I got lively & informative replies. Apparently, though, rootsweb got clogged up with all the viral trouble of the internet, and re-sent the Whitley county message AGAIN on the 23rd. It wasn't me being dense this time, at least!), it was the 'net. Pat H.

"Hal Somebody are other" is what he will be known as in future generations. He is a congressman, well paid for his hard work in getting grants. After over 200 years Daniel Boone is still a well known man who blaze trails through Kentucky.I do not think getting grants will make a man remembered in future generations. I best stop as this makes my temper rise. Mary C. Patricia Hobson <pshobson@fuse.net> wrote: There was a thread on the Whitley list recently about street and route name changes. Bill, Thanks for your reply. I understand there being so many Wyatts as I have the same issue with Gibson! Take care and I will keep my eyes open for a connection! Roy
Cousins, Thanks for the info on the Hal Rogers formerly Daniel Boone Parkway. I'm sure it's a blessing for local people not to have to pay the toll every day. I also appreciated the links for further info &/or protest. I fall into the group that thinks that only deceased or thoroughly retired politicians should be eligible for such "honors." Jenny DID sum it up best when she said: " Hal Rogers is a Good Man, But he is No Daniel Boone" Thanks again! Pat
> Hal Rogers is our congressman and the road was named for him after he got a federal grant and got the toll taken off this road. Norma
A disgrace. Apparently that political hack thinks he's important. Montford Reed former Powell Countain > Pat, the Daniel Boone Parkway has been changed to the Hal Rogers Parkway. > Hal Rogers is our congressman.
Pat, the Daniel Boone Parkway has been changed to the Hal Rogers Parkway. Hal Rogers is our congressman. Read all about it here: http://www.kentuckyroads.com/daniel_boone_parkway/ Most people I have talked to are horrified that DANIEL BOONE has been replaced by a brief case packing man in a suit. I know Hal Rogers has done a lot for Kentucky but if it hadn't been for DANIEL BOONE, we wouldn't even be here. This may be off topic and I appoligize but this bothers me. Will the DANIEL BOONE National Forest be named the Hal Rogers National Forest? Mary Siler
Click on this website, then on Kentucky and write these people letters telling them what you think....I got this from another website I am on.Margy made the site......Mary C. <http://www.pastseeker.com/boone> (Click on Kentucky in the menu) .... I have names and addresses of all those govt. officials that we need to be yelling at. I have sent my letters. We have GOT to start letting them know that the people as a whole have a right to have a voice and be heard. Hal should have refused that so called honor. Who paid,of course we will pay the bill on the change over. That should of been put on a ballad to vote on some thing like that.Let the people decide by thier votes. Was It ? NO.The paper said today a new road at Whitley County School is Hal Rogers, Water Park is done named for him. He should come forward and decline this and get daniel Boone signs back up, My two cents worth. >Mary C.
