    1. [KYWHITLE] Biddie Rose-Frank Lawson
    2. sandra jones
    3. Hello to all who have helped me with my Lawson line concerning Biddie Lawson who is the mother..of Joseph L. Lawson. I received her death cert today. Going back from memory of our earlier post concerning what my Uncle told me that Biddie Lawson later in life married a Rose who was the father of Doc. Lee Rose and if I am not mistaken in my memory Doc Lee Rose's father was Henry Rose? Unfortunetly, Biddie Rose's death cert is sadly lacking in information. The writing on it is very unclear and there is " I dont know's marked for all her personal info as far as mother and father are concerned. But it does stated that she died on 7-8-1938, she was what I think the spelling says a "Widow" and her husband name was Henry Rose (does anyone know when Henry Rose died?). This cert was filled out by someone named "Majar Hill", from Williamsburg Ky. Does anyone know who this might be? This cert also states that she was born in KY. "more than 80 yrs old" at time of death and died in Louden Ky. She was buried in Whestone Cemetery. It states that "This patient had not been seen by a physician" where it should state cause of death and under that says contirbutory cause of importance was "Senility" signed by L. B. Crowley, M.D. It was filed by Edith Terry on 10-20-1938. This cert also has the word "DELAY" stamped on it..does anyone know what this means? Thanks, Sandra ps..if anyone else is interested in a copy of this death cert I can scan and send. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. 1. [KYWHITLE] AMERICA BRYANT
    2. Ferby, I tried all name variants in the 1850 Whitley Co. Ky. census for your America Bryant, and could find nothing on her. I even tried just Kentucky, and still no America. I did however find an America Bryant, in the 1860 Whitley Co. census. 1860 Whitley Co. Ky., Woodbind P. O., page 725. 715/664 Wm. F. or T., Hood, age 30, farmer, b. Va. Mary, age 51, b. Va. Franklin, age 8, b. Ky. America Bryant, age 11, b. Ky. Wm. Raynolds, age 44, b. Ky. Candis?, female, age 18, b. Ky. This would put America at about the right age for the one you are looking for though. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Nancy

    3. Hi Joyce, Saw your information on the CCC camp that was a program set up by Roosevelt to get the country started again, l knew a fellow that lived across the street from my grandmother in Witt Montgomery County, Illinois he went to CCC Camp and learned to be a barber. Then after l moved to St. Louis when l was 9 years of age my father had remarried after my mother died in 1928, and this was 1934, we went back to Witt, Ill. to visit before my grandparents moved to California and our old neighbor behind us was a supervisor on the WPA. that was in 1936. This man had owned a store in Nokomis, Illinois and lost his business. My grandfather worked in the coal mines in the Nokomis, Colton area, and we seemed to do well, l remember my grandmother feeding people who came to her door and one time in particular, she gave a fellow a sandwich of Pickle Lilly and bread. I could not fiquire that out but l guess she was out of cheese or butter or meat. My fathe paid my grandmother $40.00 per month to keep us, he did not marry until 5 years after my mother died. Which he actually never did get over her death. I thought that was interesting about the CCC Camp, as also one of my bosses at City Utilities Electric Transmission Department where l was the secretary had also gone to the CCC Camp. I think the program was phased out about the time of WWII or shortly before. Construction, maintenance and building bridges would fall under WPA at that time. My father worked for WPA wages as did my brother in law. They had big white W.P.A. painted on the seat of their pants, that's about all I remember about it. I lived in a steel mill town, the plants were shut and men out of work trying to support their families. My half brothers were older than I and went to the CCC program, don't recall what that stood for. It too was a government program. They were sent away to build parks, etc, and kept at the camps, they sent money home to help support us, along with relief where we were given some food and kerosene for cooking. I was born April 15, 1933 Granite City, Illinois. 1. Re: [KYWHITLE] James Lawson & Elizabeth "Pheobe" Croley/Crowley
    2. I'm not researching this family but for the sake of getting accurate information out there this is what the Whitley County Historical book has documented about James Madison Lawson: "James Madison Lawson, born near Barbourville at Swan Pond, Knox County, Ky. June 6, 1869. He was the 8th son of Nathan Lawson and Malinda Bennett Lawson. He came to Whitley County to live in the late 1800's and married the former Minnie Siler around 1900. Both James' father, Nathan Lawson, and Minnie's father, Charles siler, served together in the Civil War. Born to James and Minnie Lawson were seven children, namely: Everett, Ida, Josephian, Edward, Raymond, Andrew, and Robert..." It goes on to say that James was a member of the Whitley County Bar Association and the Kentucky Bar Association. He was also a teacher.
