There is no available record of that event. How many times have you requested a record from a county clerk, state archive or national archive and received the above response? There are any number of reasons and here are the usual culprits that I've come across. In the reasons shown substitute a year value for "yyyy." For xxxxxx substitute marriage, death, birth or divorce as needed. 1. There are no records prior to "yyyy" because of a fire, flood, storm or some other natural calamity. 2. All xxxxxx records prior to "yyyy" were destroyed in "yyyy" due to lack of storage space. 3. The xxxxxx event didn't occur in that jurisdiction. 4. The jurisdiction wasn't required to record xxxxxx event prior to "yyyy." 5. Marriages are a bit more confusing. A. The marriage normally took place in the bride's home or church and is normally recorded in that county. The couple then spent the rest of their life and raised their family in another county. B. One or both were underage, and the parents were opposed to the marriage. So they went to a nearby community in another state where they were over the age of consent and were married there. Case in point, my great-grandmother was fifteen going on sixteen, and her father had already said that he wouldn't agree to her marriage. So she and my great-grandfather went to Jellico and were married in Tennessee, the marriage bond is in the courthouse in Campbell County. If my Grandmother hadn't told me the story I would have never thought to look in Tennessee for their marriage. C. Many states recognized "Common Law" marriages. There is no place that I'm familiar with that requires registration of "Common Law" marriages. D. The marriage was performed by a circuit riding minister/preacher who for whatever reason failed to properly record the marriage in the correct jurisdiction. Surely is cornfusing ain't it? Hello Everyone, I am seeking information on Henry and Lucinda Lawson's son David P. Lawson. I was told recently that in Addie Lawson's papers she has listed that David Perry Lawson married Obedience Mahan. On LDS site it states that P. D. Lawson married Obedience Mahan on 6-20-1876. On Joe Lawson's death cert it states his father as Perry Lawson. I tend to believe that David P. Lawson, P.D. Lawson and Perry Lawson are one and the same. My problem is this. I was told that he was born abt 1859 and died before 1910. I tend to believe that this gentleman died before the 1900 Whitley County Census due to him not being listed with Biddie Lawson, Joe and Nancy. Unfortunetly, it does not list Biddie Lawson as a Widow nor Divorced. I have not been able to find him listed in the 1880 Whitley County Census. I am not for sure why but he should have been with Biddie and both of their children, Joe and Nancy..possibly a Third child that is listed as desceased as of the 1900 Census. Does any one have any more info on David P. Lawson that might be able to help me in my search? I am hoping that Pat Jones from the Historical Society is able to locate the marriage license of David P. Lawson and Obedience Mahan so that I will have proof of this union. I tend to believe that it is him though due to no one having documented his lineage. Thanks, Sandra --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Dear good folks of Whitley County list, I am trying to locate the medical records of Dr. George T. Carum who was practicing in Whitley County in 1935. Can anyone help point me in the right direction? I'd be beholdin' for the help. Also, does anyone have access to a 1935 Corbin/Williamsburg telephone or city directory? As always, I'd appreciate your help. Sincerely, JenniferGet more from the Web. Dear good folks of the Whitley County rootsweb list, I am searching for the marriage record of Richard Gano Mitchell and Cynthia (maiden unknown) in Whitley County Kentucky some time between 1930 and 1935. If I write to the county clerk's office, will they search for it for me even though I don't have a maiden name for Cynthia or a specific date? Thank you for your continued advice. Sincerely, JenniferGet more from the Web. FREE MSN Explorer download : http://explorer.msn.com

Lois, My mailing list is acting funny also. It is sending emails way later than what I believe they were actually sent. I am getting them included in my mail box in between mail that I opened earlier. Strange.. I received Joseph L. Lawson death cert today. It lists his father as being Perry Lawson and Biddie Shepherd. I am seeking who this Perry Lawson is? Hoping some one with the Lawson's on this list might know. I am also seeking the Unknown Shepherd that Biddie Mahan might have married before she married P. D. (Perry) Lawson before 1876. If anyone on the list research Shepherds and might know I would appreciate it. My Uncle told me that she was married Three times. Her first Husband..thinking its this unknown Shepherd died very quickly after they were married and then she married P. D. (Perry) Lawson soon after that to have him die rather at a young age and then she married Doc Lee Rose's father Henry Rose. According to Biddie Rose's death cert that list Henry as her Husgand. Any one who can help it would greatly appreciated. Sandra Thanks, Sandra Sharp2tono@aol.com wrote: I realize mail has been slow but this is ridiculous!! This is what is in my "Sent Email" box.
