James and Amanda married in Hopkins Co, KY on Aug. 31, 1848. They show up in the Union Co. 1850 census with one child, Lydia. Amanda is in the 1860 census with more children in Union Co, and in the 1870 and 1880 census in Webster Co with the children that remain at home. James only shows up in the 1850 census. The youngest child Eliza Jane Russell married Jobe B Edens and her death certificate indicates that James was her father. She was born in 1868 leaving me to believe that James lived at least until the 1867/1868 time period. I have been unable to locate the parents of James. I cannot find a death certificate for either James or Amanda. No will for either was found in Webster Co. I have checked the Webster Co Cemetery books and found no record of James or Amanda. Their son James is buried at Slover. The death certificate for Eliza shows that she was buried at Little Zion but no marker, there is a marker for Job B Edens her husband and several sandstones near his marker and appears to be on the same lot. I have checked to see if there are records for the cemetery as to owns the lot, no records. I believe that Amanda is the daughter of Littleton Townsend, son of James Townsend. No definite proof. I do not know Littleton's wife's name. Does anyone have any records of these families. I believe that the children of James and Amanda are Lydia, James, John, Samuel, Mary (Polley), Eliza Jane, and the youngest Alford. Help!
