Ashby headstone is still there. I was told by someone on findagrave that she found it in a shop in Clarksville TN and I called and they do have one--and it was broken about an inch below the shield. He said the one he has is "brown" but the one photographed on Findagrave is white and has darker gray where the shield is. I live in New Franklin MO and so cannot see this for myself. I have a cousin in the area but she seems to be busy and hasn't checked it out. If there is no stone there, I will see to it another stone is placed, but I don't want to do anything until I know what is there. I was there in 2001 and took a picture of the stone in question and the one of his wife, France Elizabeth (Spicer) Ashby. This photo is attached.
