    3. The front page of The Messenger, Hopkins Counties main paper, screams "Tornadoes hit Hopkins, Webster. Scattered damage, 5 injuries reported." According to the paper, there were 2 tornadoes that hit Hopkins & Webster counties last night. About 8 pm, or thereabouts, my dau called and said a twister was heading directly toward us. I grabbed my puppy and we all loaded into my car. We have a block building near downtown Dawson so we headed for it. All of us almost drowned getting from the car to the door. The sirens were screaming and the wind and rain was terrible, to say nothing of the lightening. There was reports that a tornado was spotted on the ground in Dawson Springs but nothing is reported in the paper about it and other than lots of leaves blown off the trees and laying in the streets we see no sign of one. It is confirmed that one hit in Nortonville. The Ideal market lost its roof and 2 employees say they just made it into the cooler before the roof was torn off. Real scarey they said! The paper says there was only 1 injury reported to Hopkins County officials. The first tornado was reported in Clay in Webster Co near the intersection of Ky 109 and 270 west however this one was apparently a false report. At 5:05 pm Poole was pelted by 3/4 inch hail; at 5:52 pm Dixon saw nickel sized hail and at 7pm the storm had moved into Sebree causing structural damage. At 7:40 the unconfirmed report of the tornado in Dawson. A few minutes later more funnel clouds were spotted east of Sebree. At 8pm the tornado hit Nortonville with reports of structural damage and multiple injuries. On Buttermilk Rd in St Charles a phone pole fell on a mobile home, leveling the structure and damaging a nearby home. This is where the 1 injury, not life-threatening, occured. MSNBC this afternoon showed extensive damage in Owensboro in Daviess Co. as well as across Indiana and Illinois and Michigan. I think they said there were several deaths but I didn't catch where.
