Francis, The Eddings family married into my Vaughn, Dye and Pullam families. If you descend from any of those you just don't know how many people that still live there you are related to, including me. We my dad grew up in Wheatcroft and I was born in Clay. My mother was born in Diamond. My paternal grandmother was born in Blackford. We moved to Utah when I was in the 3rd grade but we went home in the summers. I attend church with my uncle when I go home and the pastor (Larry Williams) wanted to know who I was related to and we are cousins through the Vaughn family. His wife or sister in law owns or runs the cafe in Wheatcroft. There is a museum in Wheatcroft that was owned by Charlie Clark but he passed away a few years ago, check and see if his widow is alive and if you can get into the museum. It is next door to the cafe, they can tell you how to get a hold of someone to maybe let you in. They have the old Claysville Newspapers in the back room up on a high shelf on the right hand side of the room. Start looking through them. We scanned in my birth announcement in 1953 and my sister's in 1951 and had a great time reading them. Good luck and have a great time! I hope to be going home in May 2008 for the Sigler/Holeman Reunion. I have been in the museum in Wheatcroft, there was lot of interesting things in the museum. Tunney Clark is the one that started it. The building it was in was so run down and the roof leaked. I wish that someone could put in a better place because a lot of history was lost. "Miner's Diner" is gone now and it was the last business to go. Wheatcroft is now a dead town. When I left in the summer of 1940 the population was 750, now it is less than 200. James Allen Raburn (Pickle) lives in Sturgis now. I talk with him time to time. He keeps me aware of what is going on in Wheatcroft. I lived there fourteen years out of seventeen. My family moved to Detroit. Michigan in 1923 and we moved back to Wheatcroft in 1929. After the war I went back about evrry two years as I still have some kinfolks around there. I went back several times to my class reunions. Virgile Wagner was principle of Wheatcroft High School. We were kin back about three generations. He was from Blackford. I have about one hundred and twenty pages of information on my family. There were some Eddings around Diamond and Providence. I never knew them. At that time travel was limited as my family did not have a car. I traveled by thumb, I hitched most of the time. If you would be interested in some of that I would be glad to email it to you.
