    3. Frances and Brenda, I haven't been paying any attention to this conversation, but tonight the names caught my eye. Would this Eddings family be the family that originated with Jonathan Eddings and Nancy Levina Nichols, originally of North Carolina? If so, Nancy Levina was the sister of my great-great-grandmother Esther Nichols. Esther and her husband Gibson Pearce stayed in Wake Co., NC. When I was researching Esther's family, I traced the Eddings in Kentucky as far as I could. I see that one of Levina's daughters married a Thomas Vaughn, and some of the Vaughns married Dyes and a Pullam. Has to be the same bunch! Do either of you have good dates on Jonathan Eddings and on Nancy Levina's death? If there's any Nichols background info I can supply, I'd be happy to do so. Joanne Pearce Gaudio

    3. I just had to jump in, as, after a quick trip to Webster Co., discovered that my Margaret R. Williams bn 1863 Webster Co., married 1879 Benjamin R. Vaughn. Margaret was the daughter of Charles Washington & Jane Clayton Williams. Charles W. bn 1841 Hopkins Co., was the son of Benjamin bn 1810 KY and Mahala Watson bn 1810 KY Willliams. Suspect that Charles died toward the end of CW, as Jane then married her brother-in-law Mathew Harris. Margaret R. Williams Vaughn had a brother, Ben T. Williams enumerated with his mother Jenie Haris in 1880 Webster Co., KY census. Wild shot, but are these people familiar to anyone. 3. Carol, I was glad to get Margaret R. Williams's full name - all I had was Maggie, from the census! And now I see that you gave her parents' names (for some reason, your second email came before your first one!). I don't know anything about the Williams family, but I have information on James B. Vaughn's mother Minerva Eddings's family if you need it. Joanne Gaudio

    3. My line of the family came in at James Town, VA about 1790. They went over the mountains to what Union Co. at that time. It was later devided part of it became Webster county. John my great-great grand father had a daughter named America age sixteen, she kept a log on dry animal skins of the treak across the mountains. She later transcribed it to parchment. Later a lady in Clay, KY got it and put it in the local newspaper and I have a copy of it. 3. That's fascinating, Francis! I really have no information on Jonathan Eddings except his name and the information from the marriage bond from Wake Co., NC, when he married Levina Nichols (called Nancy Eddings in her father Josiah Nichols' 1823 Wake Co. will) on 2 Dec 1806. Levina was born (I think) in Bertie Co., NC, but the family moved to Wake. Her father Josiah was in the Revolutionary War. I don't have a daughter named America for John and Levina. Are you talking about a different John? I have daughters Amanda and Amelia for them. Joanne
