Brenda This is Vera Thanks for the message about your knee. I know it can be fixed now! Jane is in hospital in Indy. When I had my total knee replaced a year later they went in and took out all the Baker's, that hurt worse than the total knee replacement. You have my deepest sympathy. Drugs! Drugs! and more Drugs! According to http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywebste/towns.htm#Blackford Blackford is just across the Tradewater from Crittenden County. Crittenden County was formed in 1842 from Livingston County but as far as I know, no land was taken from Crittenden County when Webster was formed in 1860, from parts of Henderson, Union and Hopkins Counties. Check out this web site and click on County Formation maps: http://www.mykentuckygenealogy.com/ky_maps.htm My guess is the Blackford area was in Union County at one time and Union was taken from Henderson in 1811. Hi all....Jason, the courthouse hours are posted at our web site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~kywebste/crthseinfo.htm 8 to 4 Monday-Friday and 8 to 11:30 Saturday Phone: (270) 639-7006 Since it's a holiday weekend, my best bet would be that the courthouse will not be open on Saturday. But you could try calling on Friday (or Saturday morning) just to make sure. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Joanne, I hit reply and got a bounce-- So if you wanted to do a gen report with the 08 to email to someone, the 08 would not do it? What did you do then? You said you gave the 08 to your daughter, and if she emails you a GEDCOM on a person, are you able to open it with your older version? Helen
Folks, So far I have received two personal emails on the new FTM. One person was wanting to read all the comments from people who had actually used it as she was afraid to try it due to all the bad things she heard-- she said it is still unopened on the shelf. Another wrote that he didn't like it--he has almost 60,000 names in his database and entering info is much too slow. He said he was pleased with version 16 and would continue to use it. Could the powers that be (the ones in charge of the mail list) advise on this? I do know there are folks who probably have ordered the new FTM and are petrified on downloading it on their computer and they would like some direction. I also know that a mail list is generally for family history searches, I have seen a few mail lists get out of controll due to some lively discussions and I don't want to be the person responsible for something like that happening to a great mail list. Ancestry does have a blog on this, I was reading comments on the new FTM and overall, there seems to be far more unhappy campers with the new FTM than ones that are happy. Main problems seem to be it is way too slow, some elements of the version 16 are missing, the size of the FTM is rather large (don't know what the size is), the new FTM seems to cause crashes, and the online help you are to get doesn't seem to be there. You can google in FTM2008 blogs or comments, So guess for now, I will sit tight and use what I have. Ya'll have a nice Thanksgiving. Helen Zuber Keusch
Hi, I was wondering if anyone on the Henderson mail list has downloaded the new FTM 2008 (the one everyone was talking about) and how everyone that was using it was liking it. I had it ordered, and then read about the complaints so I canceled my order and decided to wait for the bugs to be ironed out. I am using FTM version 16 and quite satisfied with it. And how did the downloading process go with the older version of FTM? I also wonder if you use the 2008 FTM and download a family file on a CD to give to another person and they do not use the 2008, can that person open your 2008 file? Rather than tie up the list with a discussion, email me personally at gkeusch@psci.net. Thanks. Helen Zuber Keusch
