What was Russell's Regiment, Cavity, Kentucky Volunteers (1793) mean? Also what does 24 (Ramsay's) regiment, Kentucky Militia (1807) mean? I know I am the only woman in the world that doesn't know what it means.
I have a person who is a direct family member with the last name of Kincart who if I rememebr right, fought and died at Shiloh. There is a monument outside the courthouse I believe <Only seen it once> in Carisle with his name engraved on it. Does anyone know the one I am speaking of? Any and all help in this matter would be accepted thankfully! Regards, Michael Johnson Great,Great nephew of Private Lewis Johnson 9th Ind. cav. Thanks Jim, I was at the cemetary years ago, spoke with the people at the cemetary office. I had the impression nothing was left. How far away is the Quartermaster house from the cemetary? Know anything about the earthworks of the resevoir? Was also at the plaque/site of the covered bridge. Les

At Camp Nelson there are earth works, and the house used by the quartermaster. The house has been restored and is open to the public. Kentucky Genealogical Society February 10, 2001 Meeting "Death Records Before The Grave" Phyllis Vannoy Spiker contends that we will be surprised where records of a death might be found. Funeral home records will be the main topic, but other types of records to look for after death and before burial; information expected on these records and where to find them will be discussed and examples will be shown. 10:30am, February 10, 2001 at the Kentucky History Center, Frankfort. Jim, The topic is very important to many of us, all over the country, who can't attend the meeting. Is it possible that a transcript of her talk can be prepared and put on the net. I'm sure many, like myself, would be very interested in seeing it. Greetings! I just came into possession of a family bible with a pencilled civil war record in it. I have tried to identify the person by going through the Kentucky Civil War pages but can't get anywhere. Can anyone help me identify the following individual based on the information I have? First initial is very fuzzy but is possibly a J., the second initial is most likely H., last name is Barnett. Enlisted Aug 18 1862 Captured Oct 20 1863 [Next word is probably Released] Dec 16 1864 There is a notation on the page "Camp Nelson KY" The bible belonged to one Dudley H. Barnett who married in Jessamine Co., KY in 1839. Is this enough information to try to identify the soldier? Thanks for any assistance, --Sheryl Neal Slaughter
I have just received the above book and for anyone researching in Spencer County, KY it is a wonderful tool. Very well written. It was published in Nov. 2000 by Joseph R. Reinhart of Louisville, Ky. If anyone out there has connections to the 6th KY and or Spencer County, KY. Let me know and I would be happy to check the index and see if your ancestors are in the book. For me this book is worth it's weight in gold. Just full of wonderful information. I do not have any connection with the book or the author. The author does have a website. <A HREF="http://search.aol.com/redirect.adp?appname=QBP&query=%e5%88%d5%99%05%9c%e7%44%ac%8e%5a%72%47%b2%bf%52%77%ce%8c%23%f8%54%a2%55%a8%40%ad%11%28%44%77%6b%dc%11%22%62%fc%12%20%a3%14%92%93%5c%ad%86%44%28%c9%47%de%70%ac%74%d0%31%0a%f8%a0%a3%54%c7%5e%33%e2%b1%7f%20%55%48%40%47%0a%71%2d%d6%0e%0f%c4%0d%97%ab%96%0a%2d%9b%c4%8d%c5%c3%09%aa%5c%8a%0b%34">Kentucky 6th</A> It is a site well worth looking at. Hello, I am compiling a history of my wife's family. She is a direct descendent of George Washinton Boyd (1842-1915) from Logan County. From the records I have, it appears that both he and his brother, John F. Boyd, served in the War Between the States. It further appears, according to some old notes, that John served with CSA forces and George Washington served with Union forces. This is what I am attempting to verify. John F. Boyd: March 19, 1839 - October 10, 1909 George Washinton Boyd: April 11, 1842 - September 25, 1915 Any help is greatly appreciated. If further information is need, please write. Thank You.
