My wife's Grandparents left Greensburg KY in Oct 1913 for TX by train. They loaded every thing they had including animals, wagons, and furniture on a train and set out for OK and TX. Is there a good source for finding out about these train transports. Like their stops along the way, their ultimate destinations, what it was like to travel on these trains etc etc. Would appreciate any help given. Bill TX

Ladies and Gentlemen: Late Monday evening, the West Point, Virginia City Council urrendered unconditionally. HPA President of Virginia, Fred Taylor, reports that there were about 100 SCV/HPA and others at the meeting. Before the crowd could begin to show their outrage, the city attorney read a statement saying that they were backing off their ban of Confederate flags on the graves of Confederates. Calling from a cell phone in the cemetery, Fred stated that they were putting flags out at this moment. It is a fine moment for the Confederacy! Congratulations Virginia!! Charles Lunsford, President HPA

Thank you, everyone for the help on my last question. Does anyone have any information on KY 8 Cavalry. I can find some things on the infantry, but not Cavalry. That is the one my gggrandfather was in. Thank you again, Janet
Janet, Do you know if the widow got a pension? You can probably find out general information from two ancient series of books. The first is the War of the Rebellion series, about 80 books that had a history of every organization in the war and casualties. There are also books about all the KY military units, and many county histories include info about units in their area. The second is the 1882 list of pensioners, a five volume set that is arranged by state and county. It should have the widow listed and a pension number and maybe a date. From that you can order her pension file using a Form 80 from the NARA, National Archives. You can also get a military file for your ancestor using the same form. Most genealogy libraries have these forms and you can go to the http://www.nara.gov web site as well. Seeking information on William Arch Miller, Confederate veteran of Company H, Third Kentucky Infantry. he was born in 1840 and a family genealogy states that he died at a veterans hospital in Louisville. I assume that actually this means he died at the Confederate Home at Pewee Valley and was buried in the Confederate Cemetery there. Would appreciate any help in finding his date and place of death and burial. Thanks. Greg
