Sandi, There were several who were killed in the line of duty during the Civil War, but I don't know of any in Wayne Co who were killed afterward. There also was a Jesse Massengale who was tried for the murder of a Goodman in Scott Co, TN, before the war. I think he may be the same Jesse Massengale who was killed during the war in TN, a half-brother of Billy's.
