She died in her home that was destroyed by fire. The fire was reported by a neighbor at 3:30 am Monday Oct. 20, 2008 October 21, 2008 Helen I. Leathermon, 76 OXFORD -- Helen Irene Leathermon, 76, of Oxford, died at her residence of injuries suffered in a fire at her residence early Monday morning Oct. 20, 2008. Born Aug. 12, 1932, in White Oak Junction, Ky., to the late Orville and Zora Bell Winchester, she had resided in Oxford for the past 58 years. Mrs. Leathermon worked in the housekeeping department at Edgewood View Nursing Home from 1983 until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed and loved her patients at the nursing home, as well as enjoying bowling and cooking. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Stacy (husband: Ed) of Oxford and Diane Dienhart (husband: Ray) of West Lafayette; a son, Charles Flaherty (wife: Jackie) of West Lafayette; a brother, Ernie Winchester (wife: Lucy) of Oxford; and two sisters, Betty Foster and Bonnie Campbell, both of Oxford. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Shawn and Aaron Branz, Alisha and Brittany Stacy, Christy Little and Beau Stacy; and 3 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Isaac and Tyler Branz. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, William, Roy, Ralph and Thomas Winchester; and a sister, Lottie Patterson. Friends may call at the HAHN-GROEBER FUNERAL HOME, Oxford, one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Larry McMillan officiating. Interment at Oxford West Cemetery.
