I have found an better source for death certs. FIVE of them for $1.25. you can order ANY county death cert from Akron-Summit Library for $1 research and 5 cents for copy. you need to look in the Ohio history index for the number of the cert then send a request to Akron-summit library spec collections email address they will send the cert (up to five at time) to you with a bill for the certs. It does take a few weeks to get them but at this costs it's worth it. www.akronlibrary.org then go to special collections. there is also a link to the Ohio death index from the site. www.Familysearch.org. is also in the process of putting Ohio death certs on line and those will be free but right now they are in the middle of putting the data base on the site. It will be wonderful when they get it done. brenda Kidd shufeldt
Brenda, The Akron Library is a wonderful link and I'm certainly add it to my favorites list. Thank you! However, since Karen is looking for deaths that occurred in 1945 and 1953 I don't see where she can look them up on-line. What I found on the Akron site follows . . . am I missing something? a.. Ohio Death Certificate Index a.. microfilm 1908-1932 and 1938-1954. b.. microfiche 1933-1937 (ask at reference desk). c.. online 1913-1937. a.. Ohio Death Certificates on microfilm, 1908-1953. a.. Ohio Surname Index. a.. Ohio 1812 Tax list. a.. Ohio Women in the Western Reserve. a.. Published directories, histories, and transcribed local and vital records for the counties of Ohio.
