    3. Hi Wendy, It sounds like your Bells may be a different line than the ones who settled in Wayne Co KY. E-town is about 45 minutes from where I live in Louisville, and the Nelson/Hardin/Grayson County area is a different migration route than the ones who arrived in Wayne County took. I also wonder if there might have been an illegitimacy somewhere along the way? I'm not unfamiliar with the Long surname, and it wouldn't be surprising to find Longs in the same area as the Bells. In fact, the Longs of Wayne County came from the same area of North Carolina as my particular Bell line, and to this day live in the same area as the Bells in Wayne & Clinton Counties. Do you have a particular lead that leads you to think there may be a connection to the Wayne County Bell lines? There was a Samuel Bell in the Madison County area of Kentucky very early (probably when it was still Kentucky County VA), and his proximity to my Clark lines has made me wonder if he might be connected to my Wayne County Bells, but I don't have anything but speculation at this point. I think my Bells may be related to the Stone Church Bells of Augusta Co VA, but if you had asked me about that possibility a few years ago, I'd have said, "No way." New information has come to light that makes DNA comparison much more desirable. 2. Faye, My Bells are, indeed, a different family from the one that settled in Wayne County.? I have a friend whose Bells did settle in Wayne County, and that's why I am subscribed to this list.? We haven't established a link to that family either.? All that we have for that family is one Joseph Bell who may or may not have married Salena Christian.? There were four sons, James William, Wesley Thomas, Riley Francis, and Joseph B. They all moved to Reynolds County, Missouri around 1900. Remember me now?? We were thinking the same thing when we got the match for our Bells, that of an illegitimacy in the lineage back somewhere.? And I am certain that Mr Long was REALLy dismayed to get such a result from HIS test. Our Bells flow from a John Bell who left a will naming his son George's four sons James, Isaac, William, and Charles as heirs along with his daughters Margaret Stovall, Elizabeth Nichols, Susanna Carby, and Catherine Shoptaw in 1824.? -----Original Message----- From: Fay Clark <gmcflc@gmail.com> To: kywayne@rootsweb.com Sent: Sat, 24 Nov 2007 5:32 pm Subject: Re: [KYWAYNE] BELL surname Hi Wendy, It sounds like your Bells may be a different line than the ones who settled in Wayne Co KY. 3. Wendy, I'm so sorry. It vaguely rings a bell (no pun intended), but I see so much information on a daily basis, that I'm hard put to remember it all. When there's something to connect to, it helps tremendously, but in this case I guess I did not see anything to connect to at the time. Your friend might benefit from the dna comparison if she can come up with a male descendant to test. Of course, we still need to come up with some bona fide male descendants for Joseph Bell and Lindsey Bell to participate in the dna project, too. Wish I could help with your Bell line. I was reading in the Bell DNA Project today that there were 174 patriots with the Bell surname during the Revolution. There were over 16,000 Bells in the 1870 census. I thought the Clarks were prolific, but they are a drop in the bucket compared to all the Bell lines floating around.
