Calling all BERTRAM (a.k.a BUTTRAM, BUTRAM, BUTTRUM, BUTRUM, etc.) MARSH (a.k.a MASH), and BRADLEY Researchers and Descendants! This is your Golden Opportunity to do something to preserve history and a heritage for thousands of descendants of the men and women buried in the old Bradley Cemetery in White Co., TN! One of them is William BUTRAM, II (1759 - 1853), the father of the William BERTRAM (married to Nancy STINSON) who helped found the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sunnybrook, Wayne Co., KY in 1841. The older William settled in Wayne Co., KY about 1815 and stayed in Wayne Co., KY for several years before moving on to White Co., TN in his old age. He fought in the Revolutionary War over 225 years ago so se could keep our freedom! William BUTRAM was a friend of another Revolutionary War soldier who spent some time in Wayne Co., KY and went on to White Co., TN. This second soldier was Henry MARSH (c. 1761 - 1859). They lived there in White Co., TN for their last years, surrounded by family and friends from Wayne Co., KY. They are buried in an old cemetery among several BRADLEYS who were closely acquainted, perhaps related, to them. This historic cemetery is off the beaten path and in a cattle pasture. The weeds have been over the heads of grown men for some time, the only thing protecting the graves from more damage from the cattle. You may be a descendant of one of these people, or a spouse of someone who is. The owner of the land has only recently given permission for us to fence the cemetery and to clean it up, then maintain it. What a challenge! What a privilege too! We invite you to join us in these efforts. The first clean-up will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 10th. Or you may wish to give money toward the cost of having a fence erected to protect it from the cattle. Or both! Please e-mail me for more details on the clean up and fencing of this cemetery, or to sign up to help. You will be very welcome to donate time and labor or money and we would love to meet you! Sincerely, Anna BERTRAM (Another way to spell BUTRAM, BUTTRAM, BUTTRUM, BUTRUM, etc. [email protected]
