The Muncie Starpress 4/10/04 NEW CASTLE - Dottie D. Lee, age 86, of New Castle went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, April 8, 2004 at her home following an extended illness. She was born March 7, 1918 in Wayne County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Joe and Elvira Wayne (Atkinson) Massengale. Mrs. Lee moved to East Central Indiana in 1940. She attended Mooreland Friends Church. She was a wife, mother and homemaker all of her life. She loved her family, her pets, gardening and quilting. Survivors include three sons: Paul (wife: Phyllis) Lee of Monticello, Kentucky, Patrick Lee of Muncie, and Timothy (wife: Linda) Lee of New Castle; five daughters: Ernestine (husband: Clarence) Hunt of New Castle, Patricia Lovealene (husband: Homer) Hicks of Mooreland, Bernice (husband: Goble) Messer of Shelbyville, Michigan, Loretta (husband: Jimmy) Raines of Sulphur Springs, and Rachael (husband: Tom) Griffey of Modoc; thirty five grandchildren; seventy four great grandchildren; nineteen great-great grandchildren; one sister: Jessie Edna Carter of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces & nephews and special pets: Savannah, Samantha, Sheba and Rowdy. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Walter Lee; an infant daughter: Bonnie Ray; three brothers: Charlie, Andy and Willard; and four sisters: Delia, Stella, Ona and Eva Jane. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with the Pastor Carl Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Mooreland Friends Church, Food Pantry with envelopes available at the funeral home.
