I am looking for information concerning the Sherrill family in Wayne County. Isaac Sherrill was shown in the 1810 & 1820 census with his family. His son, Jonathan, my 3rd g grandfather married Sarah "Sally" Yates in 1819 and moved to Indiana in 1830. There was a Thomas Sherrill married to Elizabeth Yates in 1820 (the name Sherrill was spelled Sherall on marriage bond) and a Rebecca Sherrill (spelled Shearer on marriage record) married to William Whittle in 1820. I have seen a second John Sherrill and a second Thomas Sherrill in the early census As well as Wilson Sherrill in the 1850 census. Would like to know which were the children of Isaac, did his wife die in Wayne County? Is there a written record somewhere in Wayne county that shows he moved to McMinn County Tennessee?
