Hello List, I've recently returned from my trip to Wayne Co, KY. (If you've written to me in the past few weeks and didn't get a response...I wasn't ignoring you and I will get caught up on my email soon!) I had the good fortune to be in Monticello on May 15th to attend the dedication ceremony for the William Crenshaw Kennedy, Jr. Memorial Museum. The museum is located in the historic Breeding Hotel at 209 N. Main St in Monticello, KY. During the program the museum was presented with several framed historical documents and the new board of directors were introduced. Financial contributers where thanked and the new director Harlan Ogle explained the new Platinum, Gold, and Silver methods of support for the museum. After the ceremony we toured the museum's many displays and were also given a sneak preview of things to come. The museum staff were so helpful taking time to show us the reference library and explaining how the books have been indexed by family surnames making research so much easier. The museum also houses a large collection of historical photographs which have been cataloged on their computer and an obituary file which I believe they said went back to 1904 when "The Outlook" newspaper was first published. If you are ever in the Monticello area, a visit to the new museum is well worth your time and support.
