The thought just occurred to me that I should let everyone know, just in case someone may be doing the same thing, I am abstracting Deed Book L (1850-1854) and "M - N" (1851-1864) that will take us up to Civil War days. Some of the handwriting is pretty bad. Here is one I am having trouble with. Does anyone know what this county in Alabama should be? The Alabama counties starting with "B" are: Baine, Baker, Baldwin, Barbour, Benton, Bibb, Blount, Bullock and Butler. Thanks for your help. June 1845 Jan 27 - Wayne Co, KY - Deed Book L - Recorded: 27 Nov 1850 - page 55-60 Indenture: JAMES BATES and AMY BATES his wife of B________ Co, Alabama, SAMUEL SANDUSKY and POLLY his wife, late BATES of Clinton Co, KY and JOSEPH MILLER and SARAH his wife and JOSEPH H. SELLARS and REBECCA his wife of Wayne Co, KY, heirs of THOMAS BATES, dec’d to WILLIAM H.H. BATES of Wayne.. $208.50 to them in hand paid for their undivided interest and shares as heirs. (5) 160 acres by Patent from the Commonwealth of Kentucky to Thomas Bates dated 3 Jul 1843 on waters of CUMBERLAND RIVER.. beginning at a poplar and Spanish oak near a branch running N.9 W down the branch 20 poles toa white walnut and elm...to a stake on Cumberland River bank..
