From all the information we can find, when John Davenport and Nancy (Burnett)Davenport checked out of the Baptist Reform Church in Wayne Co.Ky.they moved to Hendricks Co.(Center Township),Indiana. John is on the 1832 Voter Registration List. He purchased land from the Government on a Land Grant in Eel River Township Hendricks Co.Ind. He sold the land in 1837 and Nancy cosigned. They were on the 1840 census in the 60-70 age group. John was still on the 1842 Tax List, after that we cannot find them. I don't know if they moved or died. Some say Nancy died and is buried in Wayne Co. if this is true, can it be verified? Their son Absalom Davenport and his wife Jennetta(Jones)Davenport and their children are living in Hendricks Co.on the 1850 cinsus. Maybe the old homeplace. John and Nancy's other son was also named John Davenport and he lived and married over in Montgomery Co.Ind. He married Juliann Coons and they had two daughters, both of whom died and Juliann died from complications of childbirth when the second baby was born, then he married Sarah (Coons) Michel's the sister to Juliann. John and Sarah also had two children, a Daughter named Julia Ann and a son named John.Baby John died and mother Sarah also died from complications of his birth. This time he was able to raise the little girl (Julia Ann). John married a third time to Amanda (McCrea) Hill and they had a son Joshua Davenport and that is the one Duane Davenport descends from. We believe there was another son Abraham Davenport,he and his wife Susan (Dewey) Davenport were always very closely related to John and Absalom. When Abraham died Susan and their children moved to Dallas Co.Iowa with John,Absalom and their families. All three of the boys say they were born in Kentucky and their parents were from Virginia. We know for certain that John and Absalom's parents were John and Nancy, we have verification. Does any one have any additional information on this family? Duane has taken the DNA Test and DOES NOT match any Davenports tested yet !!!! Please email us anything you may have. Thank You so much Sincerely Duane and Bettie Davenport
