    3. Joyce, I've had no luck at all in connecting with the Daughertys in Wayne County. My husband's Daugherty family seems to have left there before 1820. They were in Arkansas for a while, then went to Texas. So, I'll be studying the will index to see if there's some familiar names jumping out at me. His ancestors were William Daugherty Jr, son of William Daugherty Sr.. Will Sr was married to Sarah Bunch. Will Jr was married to Sarah Cecil. ______________________________________ ----- Original Message ----- From: <joysan@aol.com> To: <kywayne@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 12:01 PM Subject: Re: [KYWAYNE] Index to wills of Wayne Co. 3. There are about 25 Denney listings in the residential pages of the St. Louis, Mo., phone directory. I have found that making calls to clusters of people on the "trail west" from Wayne County to the Gold Rush Country of Califor-ni-a can yield some contacts. The Gold Rush official dates are from 1848 to 1855, but word traveled slowly, and people were still leaving for the golden lands of the west for decades after the mines were exhausted. If you hit a real wall with your research, get a copy of the AT&T White Pages for St. Louis and start calling to see what you nuggest (of information) you might discover! "Leave no stone unturned!" I am descended through their daughter Frances Elizabeth Denney who married Jasper Daniel Burris in Wayne county in 1862.
