    1. [KYWAYNE] Hamilton, Henry, Lear/Lair, Franklin & Branscomb
    2. Robert Strong
    3. I have spent most of this year researching Wayne County records for my many ancestors who lived there from about 1801 to 1850. I have added the results of this research for all lines referenced in the subject line, except Branscomb, to my website: http://azstrong.tripod.com/jd_letha. As to the Branscomb family, I have decided to wait until Fred Tubbs publishes a revised edition of his history of the Branscomb family, hopefully later this year, so that my source citations can reflect that edition. Anyone who looks at my Wayne County sources will see how much I owe to June Baldwin Bork and her efforts over the years in compiling Wayne County records. All of us who are interested in Wayne County owe June a debt of gratitude for her work. Robert Strong

    2. Steven C. Perkins
    3. Hello: The Parkins/Perkins Y DNA study has 12 participants, 8 have submitted test kits, and 5 results are back and are on the web page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~scperkins/PerkinsDNA.html We are waiting for test results for a descendant of Rev Peter Perkins of TN and KY. There is a 3 step difference between a descendant of Daniel Perkins of Kent Co., MD and Thomas and Peter Perkins of Wilkes Co., NC. The relationship may be difficult to document. The Daniel Parkins family is supposed to be from New Hampshire before Maryland. We are looking for male Parkins/Perkins named descendants of Abraham Perkins of New Hampshire, Edward Perkins of New Haven, CT; Rev William Perkins of Topsfield, MA; Edmund Perkins of Boston, Nicholas and Constantine Perkins of Virginia and any other Parkins/Perkins in colonial New Jersey, Pennsylvannia, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the Carolinas. Details on the study and costs are on the web page. The study is open to all variant spellings of Parkins/Perkins anywhere in the world. Please contact me directly if you want to participate. 1. [KYWAYNE] FREALY, Isaac
    2. Does anyone have access to records for Wayne County births/deaths in 1876? I have reason to believe that Isaac FREALY's first wife, name unknown, may have died in Wayne County, KY, Sept. 1876 or shortly thereafter from complications of childbirth of a daughter, Avlenar FREALY. Avlenar later married John Alford WILKERSON, son of George WILKERSON, a miner b. in England and Tiriece Emaline ALLEN of White County, TN. Any information on the FREALY's would be most appreciated as I have extremely little information on my great grandfather, Isaac FREALY. Marie Wilkerson Dyess [email protected]

    3. Does anyone on the list know the age you needed to be in the early 1800s in order to be exempt from the poll tax? Could someone be exempted for reasons of infirmity even earlier than such age? My ancestor, Charles Hamilton, was exempted by court order in 1805 "on account of age & infirmity." I'm trying to determine whether this information can help me pin down his year of birth. 1. [KYWAYNE] Chattel Deeds from 1836ish to 1840ish
    2. Lori Thornton
    3. Is anyone familiar with the collection in Monticello, Wayne Co., KY at the courthouse? Would they still have chattel deeds dating from the late 1830s? I'm interested in finding the record of a sale of cattle from someone in Wayne Co., KY to someone in Oktibbeha Co., MS area. My great great grandfather Walton A. Harris supposedly met his wife Margaret Mosely (in Pulaski Co., Tenn.) while driving the cattle to the new owners. I'd like to find a record of the sale, if possible, to see who his employer might have been and to see if I can find any other clues. However, I don't want to waste a trip if the courthouse doesn't still have this type of material from this era.

    1. [KYWAYNE] Bond Family - Quakers
    2. June Bork
    3. BOND FAMILY (Wayne Co, Ky Pioneers, Vol 4:240-251 by Bork). The Bonds were Quakers of Bewley, Laycock Parish, Wilthire, England. BENJAMIN BOND, son of EDWARD, was married 20 Feb 1686 in Slaugherford, England to ANN PARADISE. They were the parents of 3 known children: (1) Edward Bond, a druggist maker, married at Bidston 20 Apr 1720 in Chippenham to Mary Smith. (2) John Bond was born 21 Feb 1701; married Sarah Cajwalader, 29 Jan 1725. (3) JOSEPH BOND (1704-17__ ). JOSEPH BOND was born 6 Aug 1704 at Devises, Wilts, England; died in New Garden, North Carolina (now Guilford College). It is tradition that Joseph came to Pennsylvania in 173_ and after working out his passage to this country as a bound servant, he married MARTHA ROGERS. They lived in Bucks Co., Pa., later moving to Guilford Co., N.C., where they died. They were the parents of 7 children: (1) Edward Bond was born 26 Sept 1740; married Ann Mills, 16 Aug 1764. (2) Benjamin Bond was born 1742. (3) Ruth Bond was born 1744/45; married Benjamin Walton. (4) Stephen Bond. (5) Ann Bond married Cohorn or Cochron. (6) Samuel Bond was born 2 Dec 1753. (7) JOHN BOND (1755-1792) JOHN BOND SR. was born 30 May 1755 in Bucks Co., Pa and died in the fall of 1795 in Knox Co., Tennessee where his Will was probated. John Bond Sr. married twice. First to JANE BEESON on 28 Jan 1778, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Beeson. Jane was born 22 Mar 1760; died 9 Jan 1792, two days after her ninth child was born. Soon after, John Bond Sr. took a second wife named ELIZABETH BEESON, perhaps Jane's cousin. Elizabeth was daughter of William Beeson and Elizabeth Norton. Elizabeth raised Jane's baby girl and the other children were bound out, plus she and John had two children of their own. The second child was born several months after John died, and was therefore not named in John's Will that was written 17 June 1795; Probated Sep 1795. JOHN BOND and JANE BEESON, his wife were members of Center Monthly Meeting of Friends or Quakers. They moved their membership to Deep River Monthly Meeting and in June 1781, John was disowned from membership. His children retained their membership in Center Monthly Meeting, North Carolina and removed to New Hope Monthly Meeting in Green County, Tennessee in 1795. A few years later, two of these sons were disowned from membership and all moved from the neighborhood. The following is the Marriage Record of John Bond and Jane Beeson: "Whereas John Bond son of Joseph and Martha Bond Both Deceased, of the County of Guilford in the Province of North Carolina and Jane Beeson Daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Beeson of the County and province afforesaid Having Declaired their intentions of Marriage Before Several Monthly Meetings of the people called Quakers at Center Meeting House in county affordsaid Having consent of parents and Relations therein concerned; their said proposials of marriage was allowed of by the said meeting - Now therefore to certifie all whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing of their said Intentions this 26 Day of the first month in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy eight (1778) they the said John Bond and Jane Beeson appeared in a publick assembly of the affordsaid people met together for Devine Worship and they further service at one of' their meeting houses on POLECAT in the aff'ordsaid county..then and there the same John Bond taking the said Jane Beeson by the hand Did in a Solomn mannar openly Declare that he took the said Jane Beeson to be his wife, promise through Divine assistance to be unto her a Loving and true Husband untill it should please the Lord by Death to separate them and in Like manner the said Jane Beeson Did openly in the same assembly Declair that she took the said John Bond to be her husband promising through Divine assistance to be unto him a true and Loving Wife until it should please the Lord to separate them..She according to the custom of marriage assume the name of her Husband as a further proof.. /s/ JOHN BOND - /s/ JANE BOND And we whose names are hereunder written Being present at the Solomnization of the said marriage and Superscription, have hereunto set our names the day-and year above written.
