    3. The familysearch.org search engine for the 1880 census is a marvelous thing, indeed. I have finally found my missing Thomas A. & Mary S. Clark in Overton Co, TN. Is there anyone else on the list who has a family branch that removed to Overton Co? 2. I would like to know more about Nancy A. Jones parents and siblings. Nancy was married Aug. 1832 in McMinnville, TN to Henry Allen b. c.a.1803-1812 in GA. and he d. 1863 in Clinton County. bur. Davis Chapel Cemetery near the border of Wayne-Clinton Counties. Nancy and Henry lived in the Clinton-Russell-Wayne (Parnell District)counties area. There are numerous Jones families listed in these counties for many years. But I do not know if any of them are Nancy's siblings or parents. Nancy and Henry had a daughter, Tiriece who married George Wilkerson b. in England c.a. 1825-1830. Does any one have any information on the Jones' or any of the other family mentioned? Thanks in advance, Marie Wilkerson Dyess mailto:[email protected]

    3. From what I understand the 1880 census of kentucky burned. I have also been looking for the Jones that lived around Slickford. I think the district in the 1870 was 105 but am not sure. I have Upchurch that lived there. They intermarried with the Dishmans. I have quite a bit of dishman in my data base. Let me know what you are looking for and I will look and see if I can help. 3. Brenda, I didn't really answer your question, did I. If you go to www.familysearch.org, the 1880 census is now online and fully searchable. For example, you can specify last name <Dishman> in Kentucky, Wayne, Slick Ford, and it will bring up every Dishman in the Slickford District without having to know the numbers. You can also find out who their neighbors were by going to the previous and next household. 3. Brenda, If you have a map, follow Highway 90 from Monticello going toward Clinton County. Look for the last road on the left immediately before the Clinton County line. That's State Road 1009 that goes through Gap Creek and near Powersburg. Actually, right before Powersburg, State Road 200 intersects with 1009. Keep following 1009 south until it forks. Slickford is right at the fork in the road. Another way to find it is to follow Hwy 167 south from Monticello until it intersects with 1009. Turn left onto 1009 and Slickford is about a mile further. But I don,t want material on them it's George and Thursia That I need. I,ll get to George's parents in a little while. But for a while I thought it was Arthur M. Blankenship, but it's not. NOW, I,m thinking that George and Thursia came out of Lee County,Va. traveled thru Claiborne Co,Tn then thru Tazewell Co,Tn. then into Scott County,Tn. then crossed into Wayne County,Ky. And there in the 1880 Census of Wayne Co,Ky. along with a Granddaughter Martha Taylor. So one of George's Son was married to a Taylor girl Here is GEORGE W. But Thursia Ann Taylor Blankenship had two brothers living in this area. James Taylor b- 1814 he lived in the Monticello City area of Wayne Co,Ky. with the followin children 1-Elihue Taylor b- 1840 in Va. 2-William b- 1842 in Scott Co,Va. 3- John b- 1844 in Scott Co,Va. 4-Moses Newton b-1847 " " " " 5-Amanda b- 1849 " " " " 6-Lafayette M b- 1851 " " " " he m/ Dec 23,1873 in Wayne Co,Ky to his couson Nancy Taylor 7-Martha b- 1852 in Wayne Co,Ky 8-Louisa b- 1854 " " " " Now, if you do not mind If you come across any material on any of the following children, whom married to 1st time 2nd time any dates at all. I would really thank you a big bunch, I,m hopeing that this isn,t asking to much from you. I,v been searching Wayne County, and Adair Co,KY and having no luck.My document also states that George died in West Virginia. No month day or yr listed or no county listed in West Virginia. I also know that I,v sent you alot of info but if I don,t send this material to you I know that you want be able to do the search. But please what ever you fine even if it's of another Taylor-line please send what ever you can. I do have about 6 different Taylor lines from out of Wayne-Adair County Ky area,s that I,m working on. And this part that I,m sending to you is one search that I,m having a hard time with. So I hope that this isn,t asking to much for you to help me with. 3. Patrice, I don't know the answer to your question, but I surely would be interested in knowing it, too. My husband is also a direct descendant of George Charles "Mag the Gray Horse" Harmon and Elizabeth Neal through their daughter Mary Ann. I don't have Caleb as a son, however I'm sure my information is incomplete, as I have only 9 children listed and few birthdates. 2. Hi all! I am researching my family history in Monticello, Wayne County, KY, and Overton County, TN. Family name is Harmon/Harman. I've found and visited with distant cousins in Wayne County near the old area called Hidalgo and Harmon Hallow. My g-g-g grandfather was Caleb Harmon, born in Virginia around 1797, died in 1874 in Monticello, Wayne County, KY and is buried at Taylor Grove Cemetery. For about a year, I've been trying to find out who Caleb's parents are. A recent search on the Internet brought up a site naming his parents as George Charles Harmon and Nancy Elizabeth Neal. The person with this information and I exchanged E-Mails, and she said the Paducah, KY DAR accepted this information -- it was in a bible belonging to a Caleb's oldest son, Thomas. I guess I'm asking if anyone there knows where I might go to verify this information. OR, since the DAR already accepted it, can I assume it to be fact? I'll also post this on the Overton Co., TN site. Thanks for any help or info. Patrice Harman, St. Louis, Missouri

    2. Fisher, Marilyn K.
    3. Hello List: I would like to re-introduce myself. My name is Marilyn (Gregory) Fisher and I am the new County Coordinator for the Wayne County KYGenWeb site. I have been researching my family history in Wayne County for several years. I live in Indiana, but my parents were born and raised near Coopersville in Wayne Co. My ancestry dates back to about 1803 within the county. My husband and I visit the Monticello area several times a year to visit family and for research. I spend a great deal of time at the county courthouse and visiting the old family cemeteries. I mainly research the Gregory surname, but I'm also connected to the Barrier (Byers), Bell, Lewis, Roberts, and Slagle families. A big thank you to Jim Poore for all of his hard work over the past few years. With his permission I will keep some of his projects and will add many of my own. I encourage each of you to share your genealogy info. The more we share, the more we learn. Marilyn Fisher

    2. Fisher, Marilyn K.
    3. Hello List: I was recently contacted from someone in CT who has purchased a miniature portrait of a lovely woman (perhaps Civil War era) painted on ivory in an ivory frame. It looks very old and when they removed the back to see if there was a name.....written on the back looks like "Hers...ders....Gregory....Ky". It's hard to say if they were referring to Gregory, KY or it's someone named Gregory in KY. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I hope to have the jpg on my web site soon in hopes of identifying the woman and dating the miniature, but wanted to throw this out to the list now. I have an unknown photo at Wayne County usgenweb.com that we(my family) believe to be either our Morris or Meredith ancestors. It was in my great-aunts belongings when she passed away. There is no identities on it and unfortunately she never made it to telling any of us who the picture was of. It is a tin picture. If anyone can help in identifying the couple in this picture we would really appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your time and help. Chrystal
