    2. Marilyn Fisher
    3. Hello List, The news is out, we [are] working to get the WC Cemeteries Book by Bennie and Juanita Coffey online. We began this project in March, but it is taking a long time to accomplish. I can't give you a time frame for completion, we work on the project whenever we can. This has been a long time dream of mine and I'm so excited that the Coffeys have given me permission to publish their work online. Eileen Mullins and I are adding notes to the original work as we go along. Wanda Gregory in KY is assisting with local research. And we invite others to submit info, pictures, new burials or headstones, corrections, etc. However, our main goal is to get the original book online first. We will add your submissions as time allows. It's good to know that others are as excited about this project as we are! 3. Trying to make a connection to these families who eventually settled in Lincoln county. Descendants of JOHN A?. SHERROW Generation No. 1 1. JOHN A?.1 SHERROW He married ELIZABETH MIDDLETON. Notes for JOHN A?. SHERROW: AS A CHILD MY FATHER WOULD STOP ANY TIME WE WERE NEAR THE CAMP NELSON NATIONAL CEMETERY AND LOOK FOR THE GRAVE OF WHAT I REMEMBER AS HIS GREAT GRANDFATHER JOHN SHERROW. AS AN ADULT I WENT BACK THERE AND WITH THE HELP OF A MAP EASILY FOUND WHAT I THINK IS THAT GRAVE. I WAS TOLD IN THE OFFICE THAT IF I COULD FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT HIM A NEW STONE WOULD BE ERECTED GIVING THE DATES AND WHICH WAR HE SERVED IN. SO FAR I DON'T HAVE THAT INFORMATION BUT WILL CONTINUE TO SEARCH. MY FATHER MUST HAVE KNOWN SOMETHING TO SPEND SO MUCH TIME SEARCHING. THIS WAS BEFORE THERE WERE LOCATER MAPS AT THE ENTRANCE. I WISH I HAD PAID MORE ATTENTION. Child of JOHN SHERROW and ELIZABETH MIDDLETON is: 2. i. JOHN AMERICAN2 SHERROW, b. March 15, 1856, LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY; d. March 28, 1927, STANFORD, KY.. Generation No. 2 2. JOHN AMERICAN2 SHERROW (JOHN A?.1) was born March 15, 1856 in LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY, and died March 28, 1927 in STANFORD, KY.. He married (1) AMANDA R. DELANEY December 30, 1880 in LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY, daughter of FRANKLIN DELANEY and ELIZABETH JACKSON. She was born October 12, 1859 in LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY, and died April 08, 1915 in STANFORD, KY.. He married (2) LOU ADA DYE October 13, 1915 in LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY, daughter of JOHN DYE. She was born September 18, 1898 in LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY. Notes for JOHN AMERICAN SHERROW: JOHN GAVE HIS MIDDLE NAME AS 'AMERICAN' [ANERCIN?} IN HIS BIBLE, WHICH IN 1998 IS IN THE POSSESSION OF HIS DAUGHTER MARGARET BOSWELL. IT IS VERY POOR CONDITION AND HARD TO READ. IT RECORDED ONLY HIS SECOND FAMILY AND THEIR BIRTHS. JOHN BUILT STONE FENCES AROUND TURNERSVILLE, KY. IN LINCOLN COUNTY. HE WAS ALSO A MILLER AND A FARMER. HE IS BURIED IN BUFFALO SPRINGS CEMETERY IN STANFORD. More About JOHN AMERICAN SHERROW: Fact 2: WORKED IN A MILL Children of JOHN SHERROW and AMANDA DELANEY are: i. NELLIE3 SHERROW, m. ROBERT CARRIER. ii. ROSE SHERROW, m. GARFIELD HUNT. iii. MAGGIE ELIZABETH SHERROW, b. April 27, 1882, TURNERSVILLE, LINCOLN COUNTY; d. May 1943, LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY; m. WILLIAM BENJAMIN KING, GARRARD CO.; b. 1872, RICHMOND KENTUCKY; d. April 07, 1932, LINCOLN CO. KENTUCKY. Notes for MAGGIE ELIZABETH SHERROW: It is anybody's guess as to how to spell Maggie's last name. I have found dozens of varieties. One explanation could be the lack of education of recorders of court documents. They spelled it the way they heard it. Some variations are: Shearer, Shears, Sherrer, Shear, Sherrow, Shearrow. The last living members of our family to carry that name used "Sherrow" The variations that I use in the documents are as I found them. Obit. from an unknown newspaper. DEATH COMES SUDDENLY TO MRS. Mrs. King was a devoted mother and had many friends who are saddened by her taking. Funeral services were conducted by Rev Ralph Saunders in Morgan and Ball's Funeral Parlor Sunday morning and burial followed in the family burying ground near Mason's Gap., More About MAGGIE ELIZABETH SHERROW: Cause of Death: Heart disease Fact 1: Buried at the family farm at the end of Skyline Drive in Lincoln County Notes for WILLIAM BENJAMIN KING: "Bill" and "Lizzie" began their married life living with her parents in Garrard County as reflected by the 1900 Garrard census. William 'Bill' King was an extremely skilled carpenter. When he bought the farm in Lincoln County in 1910, it was also necessary to build a house. This he did, even cutting his own shingles. The house had a full basement to hold the many canned goods necessary to feed his large family. Maybe the home site was not the best, because there was no water there and they had to walk six miles to bring back all the water for the family's needs. It is said that BiIl loved flowers and trees, and had an orchard with every kind of frail and nut possible. There were abundant berries also on the farm. Whenever he was out somewhere and saw a new or different flower, bush or tree he would ask for a cutting. Eighty years later those plants are still growing around the site where the house once stood. In his later years Bill suffered a massive stroke which prevented him from working. His son John, then in his early teens, took over as the head of house to support the family. The farm is still in the possession of the descendants. More About WILLIAM BENJAMIN KING: Cause of Death: Stroke Fact 1: Carpenter; farmer Fact 2: Buried at family farm iv. GUY ROY SHERROW, b. 1. [KYWAYNE] Trammell / Cemetery lookup for Wayne County?
    2. John C. Carter
    3. Hi, all. I'm wondering if anyone on the list perhaps does any cemetery lookups for Wayne County? I'm hoping to determine if one of my ancestors is buried in Wayne County (where it is believed he died), even though he had settled for a large part of his life in the Campbell / Scott County, TN area. After the death of his first wife, he remarried in Russell County, KY, and then apparently settled in Wayne County, where is he believed to have died. Further info: Dennis Trammell born ca. 1759, Amelia Co, VA Married widow Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) Brassfield prior to 1774. Lived many years & raised family in Campbell / Scott County, TN area. Later, married Martha (maiden name?) Cooper on 27 Apr 1841 in Russell Co, KY Possibly later separated from and/or divorced her He died either on: 29 Mar 1849 prob. in Wayne Co, KY (according to one source in his military pension records) or ca. Oct 1845 prob. in Wayne Co, KY (according to another source in his military pension records) He was a Revolutionary War veteran. It is possible his grave is not marked, but if anyone can please do a lookup for any listing of his burial in Wayne County, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks very much!! Sincerely, John

    3. Calling all BERTRAM (a.k.a BUTTRAM, BUTRAM, BUTTRUM, BUTRUM, etc.) MARSH (a.k.a MASH), and BRADLEY Researchers and Descendants! This is your Golden Opportunity to do something to preserve history and a heritage for thousands of descendants of the men and women buried in the old Bradley Cemetery in White Co., TN! One of them is William BUTRAM, II (1759 - 1853), the father of the William BERTRAM (married to Nancy STINSON) who helped found the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Sunnybrook, Wayne Co., KY in 1841. The older William settled in Wayne Co., KY about 1815 and stayed in Wayne Co., KY for several years before moving on to White Co., TN in his old age. He fought in the Revolutionary War over 225 years ago so se could keep our freedom! William BUTRAM was a friend of another Revolutionary War soldier who spent some time in Wayne Co., KY and went on to White Co., TN. This second soldier was Henry MARSH (c. 1761 - 1859). They lived there in White Co., TN for their last years, surrounded by family and friends from Wayne Co., KY. They are buried in an old cemetery among several BRADLEYS who were closely acquainted, perhaps related, to them. This historic cemetery is off the beaten path and in a cattle pasture. The weeds have been over the heads of grown men for some time, the only thing protecting the graves from more damage from the cattle. You may be a descendant of one of these people, or a spouse of someone who is. The owner of the land has only recently given permission for us to fence the cemetery and to clean it up, then maintain it. What a challenge! What a privilege too! We invite you to join us in these efforts. The first clean-up will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 10th. Or you may wish to give money toward the cost of having a fence erected to protect it from the cattle. Or both! Please e-mail me for more details on the clean up and fencing of this cemetery, or to sign up to help. You will be very welcome to donate time and labor or money and we would love to meet you! Sincerely, Anna BERTRAM (Another way to spell BUTRAM, BUTTRAM, BUTTRUM, BUTRUM, etc. [email protected]
