I once read in other old Baptist records that one could be excluded from the church for "attending a party where fiddles might be played." Now that's pretty severe, don't you think? I can't remember just which church it was, but I believe it was a Baptist church in Anderson County, KY, where my Dad grew up. I grew up in a Baptist church, but never heard about all this until I started doing family research. I guess it's a good thing that you and I never had to live up to those rules, huh?!? Joyce

    2. Hello again, I don't know where a person could buy the book about Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. It is only 25 pages or so, though. I try to make a trip to the library in Salt Lake City once or twice a year, preferably spring and fall. I can make a copy for anyone here who wants a copy. When I was there this last spring, copies were still only 5 cents a page. Often I can't find a book I want and have to resort to copying a book or a large section of a book. I don't mind doing it. So many people have so kindly helped me with my family history that it is the least I can do to help and share with others. Copies are nott as attractive as having the real books, but they surely help me with my research. So far I have hopes of going in November, but I'll let you know a few weeks before I go. I live in Idaho, so it is less than a full day's drive to Salt Lake City. Jean

    3. Jean, I am interested in this book. How may I get one? I have the other one, PLEASANT HILL BAPTIST CHURCH, SUNNYBROOK, WAYNE COUNTY, KENTUCKY, compiled by the late Irene Atwood Byrer, i982. It is out of print and I was lucky to get mine second hand from a library several years ago. It is good, but maybe the other book has things in it this one does not. 3. Hi all! I'm trying to help someone else with this VICKERY family that was on the 1880 Wayne Co., KY Census. Does anyone know anything of this family or any of its members? 1880 Wayne Co., KY Census; Monticello; June 7th; Household #127: VICKERY, Elizabeth, 43, widowed, farm, TN TN TN Fanny A., 16, daughter, house keeper, KY TN TN Mary C., 14, dau., house keeper, KY TN TN Martha E., 10, dau., KY TN TN Jennetta, 8, dau., KY TN TN Florence I., 5, dau., KY TN TN *Elizabeth, 1, dau., KY TN TN I believe the one year old Elizabeth could be Rebecca Elizabeth, and she may have named a daughter Etta Elizabeth for her sister, Jenetta, and her mother, Elizabeth. The 1 year old Elizabeth, born about 1879, in this census would have been about 15 in 1894 when Rebecca Elizabeth married a Joe Byrd BROWN, possibly in Fentress Co., TN.. That was not considered too early to marry in the 1800s. We already know the people of Wayne Co., KY and Fentress Co., TN moved back and forth over the state line. Please let me know if you have any information. Thanks so much! Sincerely, Anna Bertram [email protected]

We would like to know what happened to them.

    1. [KYWAYNE] Spencer BRUMMET; WOODS, MASSENGILL Morgan TN & Wayne & Russell KY
    2. Fay Clark
    3. This one is particularly interesting. I note that there was only one MASSENGILL/MASSENGALE/et al in the 1830 Morgan Co TN census, and that was Dempsey MASSINGILL. There also was a WOODS or two in that census. Who were Spencer's parents? Lydia Massengill's? Malinda WOODS'? 1. Re: [KYWAYNE] JONES, ALLEN, SULLIVAN, WILKERSON
    2. Hi Fay, Anna, & all- I've noticed from reading your information you have mentioned Morgan Co, TN. Maybe you have seen something in your searches. My ggg grandmother, Nancy A. Jones (who married Henry Allen) and her sister, Abigal Jones ( who married William Sullivan) were thought to be from Morgan County before they moved to the Clinton-Wayne and Russell Counties area. I have been searching for their parents, Unknown Jones and unknown. Nancy and Henry married in McMinville, TN about 1832. Source: A pension application affidavit signed by Nancy A. Allen. Nancy and Henry's daughter, Tiriece Emaline Allen married George Wilkerson who was born in England about 1826-1830. Abigal married widower, William Sullivan in KY. She was quite a bit younger than William. He had 4 or 5 children by his first wife. Abigal's son Peter married Nancy's daughter Melissa. (First Cousins.) Anything you might happen to have on the Jones family especially - I would love to hear from you. Marie
