Would the person who recently contacted me about the status of Fred Tubb's Branscomb research please contact me off list? I seem to have misfiled our correspondence. I'm not sure, but the Branscomb line you were interested in may be one he is currently working on. Robert Strong http://azstrong.tripod.com/jd_letha http://azstrong.tripod.com/harry_alice

Hello List--- I have connected my great grandfather SHELBY THOMAS to the TRAVIS THOMAS line in KY. I am wondering where the name TRAVIS is found. In the 1850 census in Wayne Ky the name is FRANCIS THOMAS. Since TRAVIS/FRANCIS is dead by 1860 census was wondering the source of the name TRAVIS. Any help would be appreciated. Ona
Ona, It seems to me that Travis and Francis maybe could be interchanged, the T could be mistaken for an F, and the v for an n, and vice versa! Charlotte in Illinois

I am forwarding this to the list just in case anyone might be interested. I am not a Rains descendant myself, but my husband is connected through the Hancocks. Fay Clark From: [email protected] Hi Fay, I found where you may have done some research on the Newman Rains family. I am a member of the Rains Research Group. We have started a dna project to try and connect different Rains' families using dna. If you know any Rains' males who would be interested in testing please let me know. It's not a blood test just a mouth swab. I will pay the cost of $169.00 for any descendant of Newman Rains. The website that explains more about this is at familytreedna.com. The Rains website is www.sonic.net/~melvaw/ There are lots of Rains families already participating. But none of them are descendants of Newman Rains.
